Lightweight and spins freely. It's built pretty solid and haven't had issues with it so far.

Requires mounting but produces a lot of airflow. Personal gail force wind generator.

I gave the item 2 stars because I really can't use the reel. It feels like a very good quality reel for the price, however I ordered the 5/6 weight model and I cannot load all of the fly line onto the reel. I initially loaded 100 yards of backing which is standard as a set up on a fly reel. I then attempted to load a 5 weight tapered fly line on the reel and it was not even close to fitting. I removed about 1/2 of the backing and I was able to get all but about 6 feet of the line onto the reel, but it is tight. Perhaps it would work for a 3/4 weight setup, but it is not what I wanted. I may try less backing yet, but I really prefer to have sufficient backing on the reel. Disappointed.

For $35, a great value for a 5/6 weight fly reel.I would consider this a large arbor at 55 mm. The milled aluminum spool and other parts are high quality and the frame is nicely powder-coated. This reel will certainly hold up longer than a comparatively-priced plastic or graphite version. I don't find any plastic anywhere on this reel.I changed this to a right hand retrieve by simply removing the spool and reversing the one-way bearing (as is the case with several other fishing reels I have). The clicker mechanism is pretty loud and at some point I may see if it can be toned down a bit with disassembly of the mechanism that also includes the drag system that appears to be pressed into the frame. The drag knob is a knurled aluminum that feels very solid with minor clicks as it is loosened or tightened. There is a "stop" that keeps it from coming off at it's loosest position. The drag feels sufficient for my needs and the reel appears to be pretty well sealed. There is a small o-ring on the spool shaft sealed by the cap. I did add some grease (Reel Butter) to the inside of the one-way roller bearing and under the aluminum cap that secures the spool. There is no paperwork accompanying the reel and at this price I would assume very little warranty and/or parts availability. A really nice reel that likely would need to be considered disposable in the event of problems. It does include a thin cloth bag that would keep out dust and protect from minor scrapes. I take care of my gear and will find a more protective case for it.I have not fished it yet and will edit my review at some point after some water time and hopefully landing a few fish, but for now at $35 an easy 5 star in my opinion.

I am just starting my fly fishing journey, so wanted a low cost option. This reel seems to be just what I needed. Smooth function and light-weight.

To start, the reel is easily a 5-star product but since spare spools do not appear to be available, I have to give it 4 stars. Honestly, if only the company offered spare spools, they would easily sell a lot more reels.Anyway, about the reel: this is a surprisingly well made fly reel and it has a very good drag. I have the 5/6 wt model and the machining and function are superb. When you give the reel a twirl, it continues spinning on its own for a few seconds, with no vibration from an out-of-balance spool. And this was on a newly-unpackaged reel, before I took it apart to examine it and lube it.The drag knob is large and it has 1 ½ turns of adjustment and the highest drag setting is plenty strong for the fresh- and saltwater fish that I'll target with a 6 wt rod.The reel is quick and easy to take down for rinsing and lubrication. So do I like it? Yes, I'm very impressed. I've been fly fishing for more than 50 years for trout, bass, and stripers and I'll plainly state that this reel is easily superior to any 5/6 wt fly reel that's available for under $200. And while fishermen tend to buy the flash and bling, this reel is more than an excellent value. It is, plain and simple, a superior product that will get the job done and look pretty good doing it, too.So this is a $35 dollar reel that is better than most other reels available today. Aside from the lack of spare spools, this is an excellent value in terms of its performance and price.

I got this fly reel because I fly fish a fair amount and I want to use this reel on one of the multiple rods I have. I know it sounds funny, but I always feel that fly reels are works of art compared to other fishing reels. The reel frame is aluminum with black powder coat finish. The reel itself is bare aluminum and the black and shiny aluminum/silver color combination looks very nice. The one-way drag is smooth but I am used to normal drag and actually prefer the clicking to know how fast I’m reeling, or when just bringing in some line so it won’t free-wheel and make a small bird’s next.I haven’t been able to actually field-test this reel on the river or at the lake, due to medical conditions. But I hope to be able to soon. In the meantime, it certainly looks good in person, feels smooth, and promises decent performance for a great price.
