This has been a great addition to our home. My grandson loves gems and we are able to teach him how to take something bland and make it magnificent. He is not quite old enough to use by himself, however, my husband who has a paralyzed arm is able to use this tumbler. Only downside is the noise but that is to be expected from a tumbler. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I have several rock tumblers and this is the most reliable and highest quality of the bunch. It has no problem turning a heavy barrel that bring my other tumblers to a halt. This is a pricier model and you can get two cheap tumblers for the price of this one. If you are buying for a young child and suspect they will lose interest after a few batches, you might not need this tumbler. Otherwise, I think this tumbler is a great way to go. Keep in mind, this is made of plastic and not indestructible. The huge metal professional tumblers cost about $1k. There are tumblers with metal housings around this price, which may be more outwardly durable. They are a good choice if your kids plan on throwing their rock tumbler off a roof. I had a rock tumbler of that style and it only lasted for a few batches and died. Others said they short circuit and could cause fires. Kids who throw rock tumblers off roofs may like a bit of pyrotechnics, but since most of us leave our tumblers unsupervised in garages and basements, the fire hazard is a deal breaker. Those tumblers also don’t have multiple speeds or a timer. TL/DR. This is the best tumbler in this price range.

We bought this to replace our old standby tumbler from Harbor Freight. This one appears to polish better than the HF tumbler. We're waiting to see how the plastic drive belt stands up. It's a little noisy but we use it in the garage. So far, it seems to be good value for the price.

Purchased this for my husbands birthday and he loves it. It has polished some very pretty stones!

Cool toy. I collect rocks when I'm walking my dog and this sits in the garage and cranks away so far so good. I'm only posting this because I had posted a question and now found the answer. I lost the knob and wanted to know how to replace it. Turns out I had a nut kit and the 39-M6 fit, so I can just use that with a washer and it will work fine. However, I also wanted a replacement knob, just search for "star knobs with female thread".

I bought this for my kids and haven't made it through a single batch. Replaced it once and the second one went out faster the the first one. It just won't spin, even without the canister.

This tumbler is a great starter kit. It has an instruction manual, raw stones to tumble, and all the media needed to complete the process as well as a few jewelry making pieces. The problem is that the tumbler is not made sturdy enough to run continuously for a long period of time. We completed the rocks that came in the kit and it took about 6 weeks. We immediately began another batch of rocks we found around the yard and the tumbler stopped working on step 2. We got a replacement tumbler and that also stopped working in a few weeks. That one was also replaced. So we are on tumbler number 3......not sure if I would recommend this if you think that your kids will take an interest in rock tumbling and want to keep at it.

Extremely easy to use, and I love that it has the timer and memory features. It has a very tight seal and is significantly quieter than other tumblers I have used. Seems to be high quality and well made. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's too early to see the results yet!
