The unit sports 3.5mm and XLR inputs, XLR and 1/4" outputs, and a single gain control with a clip indicator. Phantom powering (+24V) is included for use with a condenser microphone. The 1/4" output is specially designed for use as either a mono unbalanced output, or a stereo headphone output. With Pearstone SM Series XLR M to XLR F Microphone Cable (6') features 24-gauge oxygen-free copper conductors, spiral shielding to protect against EMI and RFI noise, and quality molded-boot chrome connectors. The twin conductive PVC shield reduces electrostatic noise, and distinguishes the SM series from the rest of its class. I am using this as a mic pre for my talkback mic.I’m a fan of rolls gear. All of their products are sturdy, clean, no frills, and most importantly, they work.Seriously, you could drop it from the ESB and it would still pass signal. Love it!

Advert calls out 6' XLR cable - came with a 25' cable. Too long for my application. I had to buy a 6' cable at extra expense

a natural sounding mic pre-amp, smoother, more quiet, more natural sounding than most pre-amps found in audio mixers under $350. one review states its "too noisy", i found that to be true with some low budget mics, but not all, it depends on the mic. also, it has only one volume control which allows the characteristics of the mic to pass thru without being altered by a second volume control.

If you are buying this, do not consider the included mic cable usable.Poor fit, very noisy when using phantom power.Perhaps a solder joint?Regardless, this cable is useless.

Great preamp. Used between my heil PR 781 mic and IC7300. Very clean audio with a bit of gain where needed.
