Door on our wood stove insert was letting air in and the wood was burning too quick and hot. Super simple to replace with this kit, pulled out the old rope gasket, cleaned up the door, slapped some of the adhesive in the groove and gently pushed the new rope gasket into place. So much better - now we are not being heated out of our home and wood will last all night for a nice warm house in the morning.

Having been a professional chimney sweep for 14 years I used Rutland gasket and sealant frequently. The gasket material is well put together and easy to work with. (Tip: for cutting it, I use well-known H. Freight $2 scissors. They even cut light metal). My only disappointment was the package I got was apparently a bit old and the sealant was nearly impossible to squeeze out of the tube. I saw another reviewer also had this problem. I also cut nearly the whole tip off the tube before I could get any out. It came out thick and I used a wooden Popsicle-type stick to spread it around the groove. We have a Quadrafire 4300 and I always use a gentle stretch when applying the gasket or the door won't close.I will continue to use Rutland products in the future. This is a convenient kit and at a good price.

My stove has a 3/4" wide gasket channel so this is what I ordered. I gave it 5 stars because it seems to be a good product (even though the cement at the tip was solidified), but once I glued it in, I discovered my stove doors absolutely will not shut. I even put clamps on it for 24 hours hoping it would compress, but it does not. Just be aware. I guess I will try 1/2" next.

I installed a hood on our brick fireplace to help deflect the heat away from the mantle. I had about a half inch gap between the hood and the brick, and was able to cut this rope gasket to the length I needed, and stuff it in the gap tightly. It works perfect, the heat no longer escapes through the gap, and so far the intense heat has had no effect on the gasket... holds up well to intense heat.

Pellet stoves don't get hot enough for this adhesive to cure.

I used this to repair a wood stove door seal. Take your time and make sure to have a clean surface and this kit will fix your problem to. I have use this 1 entire winter now and no issues at all. No leaks. Fixed my problem, with a good quality product, and was a good price. I will buy again.
