It seems odd calling salt and pepper shakers beautiful, but they really are. They are glass with a high quality plastic sleeve over all but the bottom half inch or so. There is no chrome to eventually stain and rust. And they have elegant, almost sensuous curves. And they are nicely functional. I got these to keep by the stove for use when I'm cooking, and they're perfect for that. They would also be perfect for the table. They hold enough salt and pepper to use frequently without having to refill frequently. And because the bottom is visible, there is no guessing about when they need to be refilled. They fill from the top, which is nice. The holes seem perfectly sized so that neither too much nor too little salt or pepper comes out. And those curves are not only elegant, but also ergonomic. They won't slip out of your hands when you turn them upside down and shake, shake, shake. And they seem a good size for any hands. Sometimes (often) my wife, who has small hands, has difficulty handling things that fit my big paws, and vice versa. These handle very nicely for both of us.
