I am VERY happy with this product. I paid $16 for a pack of 4. It provides amazing value and practicality. The durability, sturdiness, and quality of the material are very suitable to do the job.The product is well built. If you look at the pictures, each sand compartment has two zippers which zip in opposite directions. That's a pretty smart feature. Someone put some thought into designing this, which I appreciate. Zipping in opposite directions helps to ensure sand won't spill out of the sandbag.I purchased 0.5 cubic feet of all purpose sand at Lowe's, and it was the perfect amount to completely fill all 4 sand bags. You could very well just pour sand directly into each compartment, however I elected to pour sand into 1 quart Ziploc freezer bags.I filled each 1 quart ziploc bag with 2.5 lbs of sand. Each compartment will hold 2 ziploc bags, which makes each sandbag 10 lbs. There is some extra space if you wanted to add smaller ziploc bags of sand. This provided the following benefits:1) much less mess2) more difficult for bugs to make a home in the sand2) if the sandbags get rained on or dropped in water, the sand will remain dry.3) I can easily vary the weight of each sandbag by removing or adding ziploc bags of sand.Overall, this is a great product that provides A LOT of value. Having each bag be 10 lbs is more than enough for my needs, and I have 4 of them!I also like the fact that it has the sturdy yellow striping as well. A nice practical design element.

These sand bags are very well made. I like that each bag is really two pockets and each pocket has double zippers and a kind of rubber lining to keep the sand or dust from escaping. I filled mine with pea gravel instead of sand. I like that the black and yellow stripes make them visible in dim lighting and I like the thick strap carrying handle. I bought this set to go with a set of photo light stands that are a bit top heavy. I use them at events where people will be walking around the lights and these add extra safety and visibility to the set up. I think it's better to not fill them all the way so there's some play in the sack, but I was able to get about them to about 13 pounds with pea gravel without being too full. I also made one with only about 6 pounds of gravel and it seems like only half the bag is full. I used up a full 0.5 CU Foot bag of pea gravel and if I were to do it again I would divide the gravel into 8 equal piles and then fill the bags from them to make them more even. I ended up using a luggage scale to help me redistribute the gravel to make the bags more evenly weighted.

I was happily pleased when I received these sandbags. You think there can't be that much difference in sandbags... On the contrary. If you have purchased what you thought was a value pack of 20 sandbags for a dollar (exaggerating of course), I'm sure you understand. The inside if these is coated with a sort of vinyl like layer, sealing the nylon so that your sand won't start coming through the weave. Some of you know how irritating (and messy) it is. The overall construction is great with strong stitching, that after throwing them around the studio on a regular basis, have been holding up perfectly. The zippers are decent overall. The double zipper is by no means premium, but they stay secure and seeing as how you won't have to zip and unzip them often, they get the job done. I've paid premium prices for sandbags from other name brands that are honestly no better than these. They serve their purpose while not breaking the bank.

I just finished filling the first four bags, I must say, they look to be pretty well made, and an excellent value. Haven't really used them yet, so, holding back just a little on the superlatives. To fill four sand bags:4 bags=$16.29.5 cubic feet of play sand=$42 packs 1 gallon zip lock bags: $3.27Assembly time: about an hourFor one hour of my time, and about $24 in materials, I have 4 10# sand bags.Procedure:Be sure to use zip lock gallon bags, don't use the compression lock bags, sand may make them hard to close. You will also need a 1 qt. measuring cup.1. Place sand on firm work surface, like your garage floor, cut open the top of the bag, you might want to place a mat underneath to catch any stray sand.2. Fill the 1 qt. measuring cup with sand, fill it all the way to the brim.3. Place the cup on your work surface, open one of the zip lock bags, and place it over the cup, then, invert the cup into the bag. This allows you to avoid having to try to keep the bag open while you pour sand in. Sand is sold by volume, and is usually wet, so, it doesn't flow easily.4. Spread your bag open, fill the cup to the brim again, and invert the cup into your bag. Fill the cup 1/2 full and repeat. So, that is 2.5 qts sand per bag.5. Fold the bag, squeezing the air out as you go, then seal the zip lock, place this bag inside of another bag, squeeze the air out and seal.6. Place the filled bag into the zippered container and zip it shut.7. Repeat for the other side. This should put each finished bag at about 10 lbs, or, 4.5 kg, if you are going metric.. The bags probably can hold more, but, at this price I suggest keeping the weight in the 10 lb range, and just use more sand bags.To strap them down, I suggest you add some Velcro to your order: 2" wide 10 ft. Velcro pack should allow you to secure all four bags.
