We liked that this is a no frills Vacuum. Do wish it had less plastic parts, as compared to our 40 year old Royal vacuum that died. Super long cord, can do most of house with out changing plug. Cord is pretty heavy duty (thick), but do not have to worry about running it over and cutting it.

My old cheap department store vacuum caught fire (motor windings). After the yellow acrid smoke cleared, I had the same epiphany I did when the last washing machine broke, "No more unrepairable overcomplex crap" and did my homework on vacuums. Lead me to this one:1) Budget... I value quality but not crazy bout spending a lot on this type of appliance. This didn't make my wallet cry.2) Parts availability and serviceability. Everything is easy to get to, source and affordable to replace.3) The suction sounded like something I wanted and I was right. It lifts the carpet right up to the machine and has gotten so much more dirt out of my carpet my former vacuum missed. I monster truck thru debris and it gets it all. Love it.Cons (sorta):1. It's not lightweight, but I'm a 6'5" man... I can handle that. The women in my life? Little on the dainty side and find it a struggle. But one less chore for them, I do it.2. That cord, it's stiff, well built, will probably outlast us all. But it's very long and rather a chore to coil up, but on the other hand it can reach very corner of my home without unplugging it. So that's nice.3. Knew this in advanced, but does not work worth a darn on bare floors. Not a deal breaker for me, I use a different appliance for those.

This vacuum was recommended for my new wool carpet. It seemed great whenthe handle release worked. A vacuum repair shop replaced a spring which didn'tsolve the problem. To return the vacuum I had to pay about $70 to pack andpay shipping because I didn't have the box it came in. Very disappointing.I hesitate to order another Sanitaire because of extra expense and hassle.

Does a good job for close mat carpet but is hard to push through thicker pile carpet. No attachments so it makes a one function vacuum.

This vacuum is not only solid, it’s incredibly powerful too! I was not expecting the amount of suction. It was actually a little more difficult to move when running because of that! I am incredibly pleased with my purchase!

Used one of these years ago and it was great. The last years I've used the bagless plastic machines of various brands. Those are impossible to decide or repair and don't last for the crazy price tags. Decided to go back to the simple machine and have never been happier. The amount of dirt that it's pulled from the carpets is astounding, and I know there's parts available to rebuild the machine if needed. Make sure to purchase extra belts and replace the one that's put on before packaging or it will slip. Getting used to the carpet adjustment takes a few trials and errors to get right. Will I order again, probably not since these machines are beasts. One thing to note is it does weigh about 22lbs and there's no self propulsion.

It has good suction and will pull in pet hair from a few inches away. I've had no problems with it so far. I would say it’s on the heavy side. Update in 2024. Still happy and no loss of suction. Being able to remove the bottom base plate and get hair and string out is valuable, I would still pay for that option.

I LOVE this vacuum great suction does an amazing job BUT this vacuum is a bit heavy. Other then that it’s great!
