This gaff looks really good but to adjust the length it doesn’t stay. It loosens up and wants to extend to a longer. After you open it up all the way it tends to hang downward. You can’t tighten it enough to stay in the length you want.

I have several gaffs that are used for fishing, but this gaff serves a special purpose for me. Since becoming disabled, I use it for retrieving packages delivered to my rear door. It is telescopic so wherever the Amazon, UPS, or Fedex driver leaves the package on my porch, I can retrieve it, usually quite easily

Original review: (This is a good quality product, but it is light-duty to medium-duty at best. If you are fishing from your dingy no problem, but don't buy this one for lifting those marlins into your chartered fishing boat.)UPDATE: After the first tiny bit of lateral pressure was put on the handle, it failed and bent in half. The metal of the pole/handle is even thinner than it appears to be. I'm not sure what this could be used for successfully in the real world. The hook itself is beefy, and I've attached it to my own wooden handle. If you buy it, you will too.

I do a lot of salt water fishing from jetties. This gaff is exactly what I need so I don’t have to climb down on the slippery rocks to retrieve a fish. It’s definitely strong enough to handle a heavy fish and extends long enough to get down where I need it.
