We have already used this gaff several times on our boat. We have only used it for sharks, about 30-40 pound size, to control while fishing with children. The hook is nice and sharp and goes through the tough shark skin without difficulty. Im surprised by how strong it is when fully extended. It flexes a little, but does not seem to get close to breaking. We have already landed three sharks with it and hopefully will continue many years! No issues with rusting or wear from the salt water so far. Highly recommend for the casual fisherman wanting to control large fish.

I hooked into a 30ish pound black fin tuna and gaffed it and the gaff immediately broke into two pieces and the tuna swam away with the other half of the gaff still in it.

Works great. Hauled 10 and up to 25 pound salmon up into my canoe using this gaff so I didnt get flipped reaching over with a net. Even better on our small Tracker boat. Just get the Gaff hook under the chin and pull up. Perfect everytime !
