I like its key layout with the bass note and half notes for each note. It is surprisingly lightweight. Keys are soft, making it easier to control dynamics. Tone wise, it produces a mellow, resonating sound. Overall I think it is a versatile kalimba with its unique timbre. The bass notes are challenging to tune, which is a drawback.

We had a kalimba with just 24 keys, which was great, but having this expanded version is nice! On the original we had, the keys were all attached to one piece of metal, but on this kalimba, the keys are separated from each other. It is very well made, both the wood and the metal for the keys (and the way they're attached to the wood). We think this one has a nicer sound than the original one we had. Highly recommended if interested in playing the kalimba. The one thing we wish was different is a better instructional booklet with more information on how to read the music that comes with it (also in the booklet).
