After I sharpened the blades, it worked much better. I am digging 2 ft holes for fence post in extremely rocky clay soil. Today the two blades separated while I was digging. I don't have a locking nut to use on the bolt, but I did have some washers handy. These are tough post hole diggers and can get the job done. They are also heavier than some other post hole diggers I have used and can give your arms a workout if you aren't used to this sort of work. I think they'll only require minimal maintenance going forward (and a locking nut when I find one to replace the nut it came with). I'd get them again.

it works i just wish it was easier to use. the material is great quality but it doesnt grab that much dirt and it was just easier to dig the hole with a stake or shovel

I dig ALOT of holes in my business, and Seymour DG11 Post Hole Diggers are the only ones I use; Several reasons: 1. The wood handles come completely together which allows you to use the weight and momentum of the digger to penetrate the soils instead of destroying your wrists and arms; 2. The Handles have a very good lifespan; I've tried all the options including the fiberglass handled diggers and they are worthless if you're going to use them on a consistent basis; Spend the extra $ and get the right tool!
