This is how post hole diggers should be made! If you are going to be digging anything more than a handful of holes then you should consider making the task so much easier on yourself by using a quality tool for the job.Things to note: if digging a hole that is the diameter size of the digger itself, then it can effectively dig about 27 inches deep before the handles hit the hole walls and prevents picking up much dirt in the jaws. This is much better than the wooden handle diggers that you big box store carries. My only improvement that I can suggest is to buy some bicycle handlebar grips for the handles. I found some inexpensive ones on Amazon and put them on using hairspray as a lubricant and they held tight while using them. It gave better grip and provided protection from the hard end of the handles in case you accidentally hit yourself with them.

Our company purchased a few of these over a year ago. That set worked well. We are a fence construction firm with long-term experienced employees. With the new purchase, both pairs lasted less than one day. The steel was not as strong of a grade as before. Disappointed, Our crews were on site, so they repaired both with a weld so the jobs could be completed. We wont purchase again

I grew up installing fences, and could not even guess how many post holes I have dug in my life. These are identical to the diggers we always used, maybe the same brand, I dont know...doesnt seem like there are that many manufacturers of diggers. In any case, these are wonderful, they are heavy duty, and exactly what I expected and hoped for.For what it is worth, many people dont realize how useful diggers are. They are great for digging trenches for irrigation, plumbing, electrical. They are great for digging holes to plant bushes, or equally great for digging around a bush you want to remove. I always start with diggers, and then use a shovel as needed, but the boxy blades of the diggers just give such a nice, clean cut.

These are a great pair of PHD's. I like that they make the hole a little larger than most PHD's (post hole diggers) i have worked with. Very happy with the purchase. Am I essential now that I have a PHD? :)

I wrapped the handles with hockey tape. The shape and weight makes it easy to hold on the downward thrust. After twenty deep holes no problems. Works great.

This is the best post hole digger! Having worked for a few years for a fence company and having used a variety of diggers I can say that these absolute best post hole diggers available. The weight of the solid metal construction sends the unit very deep into the earth with every stroke. My only compliant is that the end of the digger handles had very rough edges that ate into my gloves on the first hole. A quick touch up with a file solved the problem. I've been trying to find these locally for several years with no luck. Thanks Amazon!

this is a heavy duty digger. I don't foresee anymore broken handles. I wish they would have installed a rubber grip on the handles for added security when digging around electrical wires. I am very impressed with this digger.
