If you are doing any work with chain link fence posts and you plan to drive them into the ground, this is a helpful tool. I specifically used it to drive in posts to build a hoop house style greenhouse. I never saw this driver tool mushroom out. It will definitely be used again on the next chain link fence or greenhouse project.

This tool worked perfectly when used on the straight end of the post. When used on the swaged end, that end of the pole mushroomed. We cut the pole to length, removing the swagged end. Once we did that our project moved forward with ease.We prepped each hole with a 3 inch diameter garden auger to 12 to 16 inches depth. Then we were able to drive the polls directly into the ground, using a 4 pound sledge hammer.I highly recommend this tool.(note: this project was done by a 72 year-old female)

This little gem tool a beating for an entire weekend. Sledgehammer drove in 20 hoop house ground posts. Still in great shape

Absolutely worthless. Used it on a 1 5/8 chain link line post and it mushroomed right away. Post is 1 5/8 inside diameter and the plug should fit snugly to have any chance of preventing damage, it wasn't even close. A waste of money.

Had to weld up the top of the post pounder but this took the beating and kept the green house stand legs mostly protected. Needed to use a stone grinder bit in the drill on the tops afterwards as they peened in just a little bit that is ok and expected with brute force. #weaversstonehousefarm over on YouTube

Used it to install the dock post. It really fit good in the 2 inch post and did not bounce out when hit with the sledge hammer. It didn't flare the ends of the posts either.

The item works great! I can pound in the galvanized fence posts without damaging the post and immediately put on a cap without doing any filing to clean it up!My only complaint is the condition of the driver when received! It is in a sealed plastic bag that looks like it was pulled from a large container full of the same thing - all of them banging around against each other causing NUMEROUS dings & dents all over the driver!I needed the driver immediately & I knew by looking at it’s condition, that if I returned this one & ordered a replacement, that it would have the exact same problems!I spent almost 20 minutes filing off all the raised metal displacement areas so it would not transfer to the post causing me to have to file & dress down ever post I installed so I could get the caps on!Just an FYI - an easy modification so the driver fits your post size perfectly is to wrap the inside shaft (the part that fits inside the fence post) with painter’s tape until it just drops inside the post - this will keep the driver centered over the post so you don’t ding the edge of the post up!

I ordered the adapter for the 2 in. posts and found out it doesn't fit so I reordered for the 2.5in.posts and then went back on the site to lookaround and discovered their measurements aredifferent. Check it yourself and compare the picture dimensions against the dimensions givenlater on.......otherwise I like it and when I finallyget one that fits I'm sure it'll work just fine.
