I work with a CNC mill, and also do the QC/Inspection work for other parts my company jobs out. Somehow the .062 pin gauge walked away from our inspection set. My usual industrial supplier didn't have one ready to go, so it was going to be a week or more. One of the other engineers suggested Amazon, so I checked, and found this set.Pin Gauges are not cheap typically. While this set was available, I ordered the replacement from my usual shop as well, as I didn't know what I'd get with this one, since this whole set cost less than the single replacement gauge.Well, to my surprise, and delight, these pins are dead on their spec. I haven't checked every pin. I pulled a dozen or so at random, and so far, they're all .0001 under, which is right in the middle of the tolerance range.I can't speak to their hardness. They feel right, and if you're looking at this, then you likely understand how that makes sense. The case, well, it's ok. It's a plastic box. It likely isn't going to survive like the nice hinged wood box our old gauges came in. However, it's perfectly fine, and functional. If the box fails, I'll just make a nice wood one for the pins, and move on.I've purchased other Shars items here and there. Quality is always fine, keeping in mind that they're an economical choice. So far all their gear has been excellent where it counts, and you can see where they saved some money on ancillary aspects. Overall, I don't think you can beat the value when it comes to these pins.
