New review: FAKE!! These are not the original made by my teacher. These are counterfeit. I’ve been buying for years and just got fakes. Either that or she’s outsourcing. Reeds came in different packaging, were obviously made by someone else, had metal/cellophane tightening portion I’ve never seen or needed on her reeds.Initial review: I’ve been buying these reeds for years for myself and now my 6th grade son starting oboe. I learned just recently that the lady who makes these reeds was my personal Oboe teacher when I was in junior high and high school (I’m 40 now!). No wonder I love them! Small world!They are the best reeds obviously made with skilled hands.

I purchased these reeds as they were highly rated from online marketing and was curious to try them out but once i opened the package i realized the reed was going to be a challenge right away.1. The reed is way too short2. The reed is not even straight at the edge3. The reed is not scraped evenly. (there is more bamboo on one side compared to the otherIn all it looks like it was made by someone who had just started to make oboe reeds.Maybe other buyers will have better luck than i will.

Had a concert the evening I received the reed. It performed exceptionally right out of the package without any break in time. Great value for the money. Will be buying more in the future

My daughter really likes these Singin' Dog reeds. She's a high school Freshman so she doesn't have tons of experience. We have to drive 30-45 minutes to the nearest music store, ordering Amazon is much easier.

I was able to play my oboe as soon as I got the new reed. No soaking or anything. It sounds great!

I am 65 and just learning oboe after playing bassoon most of my life. It is SO unfair for all you beginning oboe players to give these guys a bad review. So much of a reed not playing well is due to the beginner, the embrouchure, the way you soak the reed and prepare it to play and basic adjustments you can make to the reed. Check out oboe reed videos on You Tube! There are many that show you how to make basic adjustments. You will have to do this your entire oboe playing life! You will NEVER receive a "perfect" reed in the mail! They all need adjusting for the way you are learning to play. If you have a private teacher, take your "bad" reeds so they can work on them for you. But NEVER give a bad review to these guys who make their living sending basic good reeds to us beginners!

2 out of the 3 reeds I purchased were cracked before anyone used them. The packaging was in perfect condition so it definitely wasn’t damaged during shipping *DO NOT BUY*

Not quite as good as the reeds my teacher makes for me, but in tune, nice sounding, and approximately an infinety better than any other commercial reeds that I have tried.I am fairly new to oboe, but have been playing other woodwinds for about 50 years, so I am fairly confident in saying that these stay in tune throughout the range of the instrument, making it the first commercial oboe reed that I have found to do so.To be more accurate, I should say that when I am out of tune, the fault lies with me, rather than the reed.
