I had a particular reason for ordering this latch. My dog and the dog next door are absolutely incredible friends! They want to play together constantly…which is a good thing. However, we don't always have the time to open the gate between our yards to let them run. That didn't slow them down at all…they simply taught themselves how to open the gate!!! They got so good at it that they could open the gate on the first try! So, in order to bring some control back to US, I decided to add a second latch. I didn't need anything big…just something that would latch securely and (hopefully) prevent these two from opening the gate any time they pleased!The latch is well made and is very easy to install. It's smaller than I thought, but it's very sturdy! The only negative thing I have to say is that the spring that holds the latch in the closed position until you pull on the lanyard is a bit wimpy. I can foresee having to replace that spring at some point. But replacing it would be a breeze if it ever comes to that. However, for now, it does the job well. (Be sure to drill the required 1/4†hole in the instructions. Otherwise, the spring retainer disk won't seat properly into the hole in the fence post. Ask me how I know….).The operation of the latch is smooth and easy and, so far, the dogs haven't figured out the lanyard……yet!!

Over the years, the gap between the gate door and the gate itself has decreased, so it was hard to use other gate locking hardware. This latch didn't take any space between the gate and the gate door.This item was reasonably priced, arrived quickly and was super easy to install.

The problem I had was that the pin that holds the wire did not fit into the hole it was designed for. Had to ream it out with a metal drill bit. It works fine and I like it... now.

I don't have a lot to say other than that this product works as one would hope, it securely locks our back gate, and the mechanism is really smooth, compared to the one it's replacing.It was easy to install, and the operation is simple. It locks every time, and is designed so it closes smoothly rather than jerking closed. I'm happy with my purchase.

Works great, but we had to file the hole for the pull string peg because it would not go in. Took an extra 5 minutes to figure it out. Not a huge deal. Locking and unlocking works smoothly.
