I bought a cheap tumbler and wanted better grit than the kit had because it wasn’t creating a nice shine after over a month of tumbling. I did a lot of research and found many of my favorite rockhound influencers used this grit. It was fairly expensive, so I didn’t want to spend the money if it didn’t work, but I decided to bite the bullet. I am glad I did, and won’t be purchasing any other grit.Even at step two, the rocks are already in such better shape and shine than the previous grit. When step 4 is complete, the rocks are so highly shined and just absolutely gorgeous. I also find I can cut a couple days out of the process by using this high quality grit (especially since I prefer more naturally shaped tumbles). This is a much better grit than nat geo offers and worth the amazing glossy shine it creates.

I like this grit mix and it will last for quite a few batches. We are using the little National Geographic rock tumbler. That tumbler is inexpensive and works pretty well, but the results would be disappointing if you used the included grit and instructions. This turns it into a great gift for a kid that's into rock-collecting.

These are a very good choice of grits and compounds for a professional or hobbyist tumbler. I use them in my rotary and vibratory tumbler and they have always produced a beautiful finish in both machines.
