Thanks to the other reviews I went two sizes up! My daughter usually wears a 8/9 in clothes so I got her a 12 in this coat and it fits perfectly. She’s petite but if she wasn’t I would recommend sizing up to a 14 for a child that usually wears an 8/9. I would recommend as long as you size up

We recently purchased this for an 11 day cruise to Alaska where rain was forecasted to fall almost every day. I originally purchased in size 8 but it was pretty snug on my seven year old long and lanky son. Snug to the point where it would work that trip, but he'd basically be out of it inside of a month. Thanks to Amazon's easy return policy, we were able to exchange size 8 for size 10 which was form-fitting but not snug.The forecast turned out to be very accurate - we had rain for 10 of our 11 days. We spent a bunch of time outdoors on various excursions and walks in the rain and my son stayed dry the whole time! We'd get back to the cruiseship and his pants would be soaking wet but his torso remained dry without being too warm. The ultimate test was the day we visited a small waterfall during a rainstorm and the mist from the waterfall soaked everyone in the party except my son.Overall, I recommend the product but would highly advise ordering a size up. It's a quality enough item that it will hold up with repeated use so may as well get some use out of it with a larger size!

Waterproof and very comfortable. It was light enough for the summer and I ordered up a size so my kids could wear hoodies and sweatshirts underneath for cooler weather.

I'm not sure if I was sent the wrong color, or if this is what they mean by orange. Either way the color doesn't match any of their options. Sizing is very small, my size 8/10 child fit perfect in the size 14. Zipper seems cheap, everything else was as expected. Lightweight and good mesh liner.
