The rod looks sturdy, well tied, most certainly colorful. The reel looks to be of average quality. The jury is still out as to whether or not the combo will make it a year of fishing. Will write a follow up review next December.Follow up: I had a small issue with a line guide that was immediately addressed first by Amazon then by Sougayilang, both in an extraordinarily fair fashion. The Sougayilang Customer Service was very, very prompt and accommodating. They, without prompt, sent me a new reel to try out, something I will do (and report on) in the spring. I am quite satisfied with the entire process and would give five stars had I tried out the equipment in field conditions. For fishing aficionados (like me, a fisherman of 60 years and an accumulator of a billion pieces of equipment), the consumer end of Sougayilang products are a great buy for 90% of the recreational market. The product line resembles a Ford and not a BMW. I don’t know if the company has high end (see expensive) products but given my level of expertise I probably wouldn’t buy them anyway.Update: Finally got to use the rod for some serious bass fishing in Arkansas. First day out the in boat while reeling in a bass (about one pound) the rod broke in two.Update Two: The Customer Service of this company is fantastic. When I contacted them about the broken rod they immediately contacted me and offered a replacement. I suspect that the rod that broke was an anomaly and not representative of this class of rod. I will update as appropriate.Update 3: Customer Service remains excellent. Prompt, caring and generous. I am upgrading my rating to five stars because this is a five star pole in its class. It is not a professional grade rod ($100 and up) but it is a good value for the price.

Great rod for bass fishing. Rod tip is a little fragile but Customer service was amazing in helping fix the issue. Perfect for beginner anglers.

I bought this for my son to fish with. He's 16. He's enjoying it and happy with the quality. He especially like the camouflage look. Thought it was cool.

I bought this rod and reel for myself, it works great very comfortable to hold good sensitivity smooth casting. Good buy for the money. It arrived in a huge box plus a hard cylinder no way it could be broken in route!
