Works amazing. I bought this for my sourdough starter since my house is typically colder than ideal. Keeps the temperature at the right degree.

This warmer does what it says! Keeps your starter at the perfect temperature. Easy to operate. You can set it for up to 12 hours before it automatically shuts off. If you don't have one, you should definitely consider it.

The directions and the chart aren't the most intuitive to interpret, but we followed the instructions included. We set it at about 78 degrees and set the timer, as directed. It overheated and quit working after two uses. The included plug adapter got dangerously hot and the device won't turn on now. When I went to get support for the issues, as it talks about in the instructions, I was bounced around the FAQ without any actual resolution for the issue. Disappointed in the product and the crappy automated customer support that doesn't really help the customer. This thing is a fire hazard and a waste of money

This would be my most highly recommended “sourdough tool†to invest in. My sourdough starter activity skyrocketed and now I can make delicious bread. Also, it’s a good tool to ensure a consistent warm temperature for bulk fermentation (hanging out on the counter before shaping). If you want to make sourdough bread and be successful, buy it.

This device makes a huge difference to get my starter ramped up for use.We keep our house at 55F nighttime which slows the starter down a lot. I had tried seed starting heat mats both under and wrapped around the starter jar and those worked, and one of those I have is temp controlled as well, but this solution is much more compact and manageable on the countertop.Folks in comments are talking about the glass dome; I just drape a dishtowel over the jar and this base and the heat gets trapped just fine and the base runs less (has green light when up to temp, so you can tell).Taking off 1 star as the unit seems to have some incomplete temp control management. The manual states if you leave it set at >80F for 12 hrs it can/will heat to 100F and burn the starter. leaving at temps under 80F for 12 hrs would be fine. I don't understand why this would be. That said, I know some of the logic here can be hard (remember when rice cookers got "fuzzy logic" and that was a big deal?) Still, read the manual, avoid the situation, but it would be better if the situation didn't occur. My starter can markedly outgrow the jar when I have it set to just 73F, with my house at 55 to 60F. No reason to set it to 80...

Works best with glass dome although restricts the size of what you can keep inside if it. Keeps my starter healthy and happy

This was a game changer for my sour dough starter. We keep the house fairly cool during the winter, and my starter didn’t like it. The day after I received this, a miracle occurred! My starter went from just being a little bubbly to doubling overnight! Adding the glass dome is definitely recommended. The problem is that after about 3 weeks, it kept turning itself off. I tried unplugging it and letting it reset. I changed outlets. Nothing worked. I’m returning it for a replacement. If the replacement lasts, I’ll come back and up my rating. As it is, I can’t recommend it.

My house is always cold so when I want to feed my starter or make sourdough it takes forever to rise. This helps a great deal in allowing for constant heat that can be adjusted to the temp you want. Did get the glass dome to go with it. Only drawback is the height with the glass on it. Do check to make sure your starter jar fits.
