I seeded an entire grow tray with these white sage seeds due to their low-germination rate. I was hoping to eventually get just a few plants even. The KEY to getting white sage to germinate is you DO NOT cover the seeds. They require light for germination. To grow these, I took an all purpose seed starting soil and placed a few seeds on top of the soil in each cell. Did not cover them with soil at all. With a spray bottle I lightly sprayed and watered each seed cell, and covered the tray with a plastic greenhouse dome. I put the seed tray on a seedling heat mat that keeps a temperature of about 75° and had a full spectrum grow light on them around the clock. I got germination on my first seed in about 5 days. Today is day 8 and I have three more sprouting. No doubt more are coming. These are good quality seeds. If you follow the right steps for germinating white sage, I’m sure you’ll also have success.

I planted nearly the whole packet in about 3-4 different ways using sandy soil: Indoors in pods with a heating pad, outdoors in pods, in a large pot, and on a wet paper towel in a plastic bag.The paper towel method has seen some sprouts, and I set that up 3 days ago. As of this morning, I've counted 4 sprouts on the paper towel. I won't see anything in the soil for a while. But I figured I'd make sure people know that these seeds are indeed viable; it's just difficult to convince white sage to start growing. Do lots of research and you should be good to go.

The seeds were either a very bad lot or something else happened..Firstly nothing grew when I followed the instructions on the package.Secondly when I tried germinating in tissue about three seeds out of the 20 I placed in the bowl and tissue sprouted but by the time I tried to transplant they died.Third time around (cant remember how I planted) the plants in the images I uploaded grew. A google image search indicates that these are day flowers. These might have been in the soil I used. this means no sage plant sprouted at all.I have a few more seeds left to try again but this is so disappointing.

I waited to write a review because it took some time to figure these out. I spent months trying to get them to germinate with no luck. Last ditch effort was soaking them overnight in a cup of water before sowing in my Click & Grow, and...SUCCESS!!The plants grew very slowly in the beginning, and it took almost 6 months in the Click & Grow before I felt comfortable transplanting to my yard. I figured since I live in the Phoenix desert (Zone 9b) it would be happy in full sun, and boy was I right! My white sage plant has been outside 2 years now, and I leave it be until it's time to harvest in the spring (April-May). It gets a little unwieldy by harvest time if you don't trim it back, as pictured, but I prefer leaving it until it's filled out before cutting. Final picture is about half the bundles I made from this year's harvest. The plant smells amazing and does well on the drip system with the rest of my plants. Not sure how it would do in other climates, but Arizona desert doesn't seem to be much different than it's native California one. So be patient and willing to try the seeds a couple different ways. They are tricky to get started, but once you find out what works, you won't be disappointed!

The surviving plants look healthy. I was disappointed with the low germination rate and susceptibility to leaf rot at varying levels of hydration concerned me. 25%is germination rate.

Very quick germination. 8 sprouts so far. Only took about a week for them to germinate. Soaked them in low concentration peroxide for 10 minutes, then dried and scarified. Planted directly on top of some simple Walmart seed starter soil.

I was hoping to grows some of this sage as it looked cool and seemed easy enough. I tried planting some seeds directly in a pot, some on a damp paper towel and covered, a few soaked in warm water for a bit, and some in small starter soil container. Nothing sprouted. or even showed life. This is sort of the norm with some of the seeds I've bought online. You sort of have to try different ways to get them to sprout, but unfortunately, I think a lot come dead. Other seeds I've bought sometimes sprout but maybe only 1 out of the 3 ways I try. (I do this to maximize my chances, but so far it sucks. Lol)Just keep this in mind. I'm giving them 3 stars to be fair that maybe they all died on the trip, or something else. There's no way to know until you attempt to grow them.
