My ankles began to painfully collapse several times a week when going down the stairs in our home, which frightened me. For the past couple of years I needed to hold onto the railing to avoid a devastating fall. I began to see a physical therapist. She recommended a foam pad to practice balancing on to strengthen the fine muscles around my ankles. I tried two different square pads that just didn't feel right. But then I found this oval pad and what a difference! Just the right softness/firmness. I take turns balancing on one leg at a time for several minutes a day and already see huge improvements in the strength of my ankles. Only one ankle collapse in 6 weeks, and that was 5 weeks ago. If ankle weakness and pain is a problem for you, then consider buying this balancing pad!

This is the model used in my physical therapy training. I have an Achilles issue, and part of my rehabilitation is standing for 30-60 seconds at a time on this pad. It is not too soft so that my foot sinks. It creates the right amount of support but also a challenge for my exercises.

I find them to firm. I’m petite 5’ weigh 115 lbs. Wanted to use them to improve my balance. Maybe with use they will soften up.
