Happy with this item. Quality is high for the price. I use it for tree ground anchors. There are higher quality turnbuckles (marine use) out there but not as large max extension. The price is reflected in these differences.I like the open design allowing for better water draining. The only issue I had is the jaws not being parallel, so the wire rope thimble had to be hammered a bit to fit between them. Maybe a different brand of thimbles would have fit better. No big deal.

Used a set to adjust a gate post for a large gate. Was able to dial in all the compression I needed. The pins work fine with 3/8th chain.

I got this to put tension on a sagging gate at the front of my property. Since it is outside in the salty Florida air, stainless is a big plus. It is plenty strong, and it works great. I just recommend to set your gate above where you want it to be, and then take out all the slack you can before using the turnbuckle. It will take a lot of the travel of the turnbuckle to take up any slack that is left in the tensioner. My gate is riding high, and looking like it should now. I expect this thing will last longer than I do!

This turnbuckle is ~12 inches long fully collapsed (pin center to pin center) and expands to ~19 inches. They call it "1/2 inch", yet the 12MM spec may be really what it is (the pins on the ends and threads measure 0.46 with calipers, a bit small for 1/2 inch in my mind). This doesn't have a cotter pin (needing bends) or a hitch pin for locking the main pins, rather what looks like a "key ring" device. It may be better than cotter pin (where repeated bending ruins them in a few uses) and not as easy to pop off as hitch pins, yet may be more fun to string thru it. They also have nuts for locking it in place on both ends. I like devices like this for adjusting loads with chains compared to the "over-center" load binders (forcing you to move a full chain link if one seems loose and likely go overly tight).

I was planning on using this for the large RV gate but may end up using it on the kids zip line instead. The zip line has 3/8ths turnbuckles on it now with a WLL of 2,200 lbs. But I had to use two of them in sequential order to get the line tight enough. This one has the same WLL but looks and feels beefier and will allow all the adjustment I need in a single turnbuckle.I'll then take the 3/8ths turnbuckles and use one of those on the RV gate and the other on the small gate.I love that it allows about 7" of travel. That's impressive. Nice turnbuckle!

I got this turnbuckle for tightening my shade sail. It's a strong, heavy-duty piece of hardware. The one that received is 12" when closed all of the way and a over 18" when opened to where I feel there are enough threads to keep it together. The cotter key style ends are ingenious. The round pin lock is easy to remove even for my arthritic hands. This design allows you to use loop end ropes and cable rather than tying knots.

I used one of these for tensioning steel cable on a square tube steel cattle gate. The adjustability range gives you plenty of room to maintain tension over time as the cable tends to sag due to changing temperatures over the years. Very strong and worth the retail price.
