Firebacks increase efficiency of a wood burning or gas fireplace by radiating heat and reflecting light from the fire into the room. They also protect the structural integrity of the masonry on the back wall of the fireplace while shielding it from 1/3 of the heat produced in the fireplace. Slotted base allows for adjustable installation from 65 - 90 degree angles. Assembly Required. Be sure to measure and check your dimensions, overall I expect this to work well and last a long time. It has a slight curve to it which was a pleasant surprise because it looks flat in the Amazon ad. It is on the thin side but should be fine for long term use I believe this to be a good product and good value

I wish it had more sizes as my fireplace is 21 inches wide but the next size up from this was too wide since my wood grate is permanent and wouldn't accomadate the size up. Or is there was one to complement this for just the sides.

Nice, solid piece of steel. The plate is curved and bent on three sides to increase rigidity. The "feet" have several slots for adjusting the plates angle and distance from back of fireplace. Decent product for the price and should last a long time.

I’ve used this fireback for 3 fires in my 36†zero clearance prefab fireplace and so far it is doing great. I’ve burned 1 wood and 2 Pine Mountain log fires. The fire back fits my small fire place just right and I’ve not had any issues with the paint. However I keep my fires in proportion to my fireplace. I bought this fireback to protect my rear refractory panel and hopefully extend the panel life as the replacement panel has been discontinued. I contacted the seller with a question and received a quick response, which was greatly appreciated. If my opinion changes, I’ll add an update to this review.

The heat shield sits on 2 pieces of flimsy slotted metal so you can change the position of the sheet. If it gets bumped by the wood, it jumps out of the slots and was hard to take out to clean the fireplace because there are no "attached" feet. Didn't notice much difference in heat output. Kinda dissapppointed :(

The metal seems thin but fits in my fireplace I have one on each side. The back of fireplace I have a cast iron fire back the cast iron is better but these do help and are much more affordable. Like the other reviews the black paint peels after a few fires but is not an issue for me

I probably could have used the next bigger size, but the device does make a noticeable difference in the amount of heat produced by may fireplace. I’ve used it twice so far this winter and have not noticed any warping if the material.
