Just what I needed, perfect for my style of cooking. You must use the fine grind of salt or whatever you use, as the holes are very small. But that's what I wanted.Be careful, one shake puts out a lot of material. So you'll oversalt if you're not careful, same with pepper. Tested with garlic salt too, and it worked great.The holes are too small for most granulated items, such as garlic, onion and etc.Easy to clean too. Make sure it's dry of course before filling.They're metal, so if you use them outside, and leave them outside even in a covered area or something, be aware of condensation inside and may clump up the material.I'll buy a couple more for fine grind spices that I use a lot.Good value too, very fair priced, and you can't always find these in some of the cooking supply stores.

I ordered this set of shakers to replace (yet again) a set of salt and pepper shakers that I keep on my cooktop. Every other set that I've purchased has some sort of plastic in it -- and if you leave them anywhere near your cooktop then eventually they will break, wear down or melt from the heat that inevitably occurs when you cook.Wow. These are exactly what I wanted -- particularly since the shaker top can handle Kosher salt.Screw tops fit snuggly, they're large enough to not be refilled often and they have a large handle to grip, even if you're wearing an oven mitt.Now, some people have griped that you can't tell the difference once they're filled between which one is salt and which one is pepper. Oh jeez. I have a nose! I put both up to my nose and with one whiff I could tell which one was pepper! A true cook takes the time to assess their ingredients without just grabbing and dumping, don't they? At least in my kitchen they do.These shakers came nicely wrapped (unbelievably secure) and were packaged well. I'm certain I won't be replacing them in the near future, as they will last a long time. I wish I had purchased these in the first place. Excellent product. If you're a cook who is looking for shakers to keep handy in a potentially higher-heat area (like your cooktop), these are it.

These are good quality shakers for the price. They have a nice weight to them and the stainless steel is nice and shiny. They hold a good amount of salt too. I like to have a large salt shaker to use for cooking or at the table. It's easy to remove the top and use a measuring spoon when cooking. Just be careful when you salt your food directly from the shaker because you get a great deal of salt out of it. It is also very good for use as a flour dredger. Good purchase.

The shakers are solid and will hold up well! They are as pictured and I've been using them for the past couple of weeks with great success on my griddle. I went with putting regular salt and pepper into them and may order a couple additional for some of my other frequently used seasonings. With a little practice I'm now able to dispense the right amount without over seasoning. I would recommend practicing shaking/dispensing over a paper towel (so you can re-use what comes out) to get a feel for how fast/slow the material comes out. Although there are a lot of hole it doesn't come out as fast as you'd think. For anybody that is doing a lot of cooking of large quantities of food these are a must have.

There is such a good amount of salt and pepper that comes out of these shakers. We use it for our food trailer and it does not take much to get the amount we need out. I also love the price.

I wanted metal salt and pepper shakers that I could keep on my stove without fear of melting, as a typical plastic shaker would. These also replaced a cheap metal shaker I got at the grocers (made in China) that I could never get the lid off of and had to get my husband to do that for me.These resemble the old time salt and pepper shakers my mother had on her stove when I was a child. They have a comfortable handle and the lids came off easily (I sprayed a little PAM on my finger and ran that around the threads to keep the lids from sticking.) The shakers work perfectly and I recommend them for anyone wanting the commercial shakers for personnel use.
