Question 1: If the instrument was not tuned?
- The steel tongue drum can be adjusted by fine adjustment: stitching down by pressing the tongue for tone, or using a file with grinding (in the figure) to file it at the root of the tongue, and the tone will be lowered; If it is a low tone, please raise the tongue from the bottom.
Question 2: What is the correct method for testing intonation?
- The steel tongue drum test method must be accurate to test the true accuracy. Above all, the drum should be flattened. You cannot measure intonation on an uneven surface. Second, to measure the tone of the target language, you need to tap on the other languages and then point the target language to the tuner. Otherwise, there will be 1-2 HZ test errors. After striking the position of the head of the tongue several times in a row while aiming the tuner, remember that several times of continuous percussion, the tuner will appear as a range of beats (the steel tongue drum can only test the sound range value), this range is the tone intonation of the target test language.

Very easy to learn. My daughter taught herself “Joy To The World “ in about 20 minutes. She will be playing this for Christmas Eve at church. Really sounds like church bells.

I have limited musical training consisting of sight reading & playing the treble cliff. In my older age I have wanted to take up a musical instrument that I could play immediately. I saw this instrument on YouTube with Doug Dailey which sold me on this instrument because it sounded so beautiful when he played it.My purchase arrived quickly from Amazon & was carefully delivered by an Amazon driver & in perfect condition.Now one thing that you have to understand is that in general mass produced steel tongue drums may sound slightly out of tune & can be tuned. I cannot see myself tuning mine. Mr. Dailey's drum was provided to him for a review so his instrument was in perfect tune or he had tuned it at the time of the video. After spending time on my instrument, I have deduced that the 7(B) is somewhat off tune. The good thing is that there are no dead tongues so all tongues ring out loud & make a joyful noise. I wish that the instrument would not echo so much when played. The tongues are large which makes them easy to strike for young hands. I am not as happy with the instrument's performance as I had hoped to be. I thought that the numbers on the instrument were easy to read in the daylight hours. The mallets were long enough for my small hands. There was a little song book included, but the numbers on the song sheets were small & hard for me to read as a senior. I had hoped that there would be more detailed instructions as to how to how to play this instrument rather than just where to strike the tongues. If you are an adult & want free tutorials which give you free songs by the number, go to YouTube. I have used Simple Tank Drum, Soothing Kim Tongue Drum, Shelia Wilson, & It's Me Cello to collect free music that I have enjoyed playing. Some of these offer e-books which I cannot vouch for as I have not downloaded anything.This instrument is okay for a beginner wanting to learn the basics. As you improve you will decide that 11 notes are not enough & will want to purchase a 13 note instrument to give you a wider range of songs to play. No I would not recommend this based on the sound.

Is gift my grandson for Christmas so haven't really tried it out. Did ping it so I could hear the tone, it was fabulous! Can't wait to see him use it.

For a tongue drum in its price point this is an excellent option. The tongues were a little out of tune, but easily rectified. A higher end drum would produce cleaner sounds, but the tongues are perfectly harmonic and the quality os as expected. Very pleased!

for my ears 2 notes doesnt sound perfect like others, but otherwise its fine. I was thinking should I return it and buy another one instead or to keep it because of it. finally i decided to keep it, as I am still beginner for using this type of musical instrument and overall it is fun to use, but lets say my expectations were higher and for sure in the future would like to get more professional one. so for beginners its good, but who has sensitive ears for the sounds, will feel discrepancies (I bought bronze one)

Purchased this as I I’d owned one previously.. This drum offered several more note options. Each note was pitch perfect and creates a gorgeous resonant sound. Easy to play and suitable for those with little or no musical experience or knowledge. Sturdy, well designed and constructed. Arrived as promised, well packaged and not damaged. Descent price point for this item.
