Using a step up ring to adapt your filters is a fantastic option if you are working with different camera systems or switching lenses which differ in size. The money you save in not having to re-buy ND filters for your various lenses/cameras is pretty huge. With that being said I needed to adapt my ND filters from my Sony full frame lenses to work with my smaller Lumix micro 4/3 lenses and this filter adapter fits the bill perfectly. I was actually so impressed with how simple these work I will be ordering a complete set of rings for additional step up/down options. The ring itself is lightweight and appears to be solidly made.

Bought a 40.5mm to 58mm ring - the 58mm side was slightly too wide and nothing would screw into it.

The seller says both that these are plastic and that they are made of "aviation aluminum alloy." They are of course light and thin metal, presumably aluminum.I ordered my 58mm - 62mm adapter to slightly extend a lens hood so that my lens, when extended, would not contact the lens cap. This adapter screwed cleanly into the lens hood, feeling like the threads were perfect. It is concerning that the only other reviewer found that a different adapter in this series was too wide on the big end for anything to screw into it. He gave it one star, and I don't need to add to that punishment, based only on his experience.I haven't yet tested the threads on the big end of mine. (I bought a plastic squeeze-type lens cap for it.) I might eventually buy a metal screw-in cap, and might also buy filters. I trust they will work.

There was a time when I would use Cokin-type square filters. I learned that it means carrying a large kit in the field. Instead, I have purchased filters for the largest lens, 77mm, and use a step-up like the YLLXZQ to match my smaller lenses. A small pouch of Circular filters is a lot less to carry and way easier to mount in the field. The YLLXZQ is well-machined and easily takes 77mm filters. The other end of the YLLXZQ fits both my Samyang 58mm lenses perfectly. (See photo) I honestly don't see the difference between this step-up and the more expensive name-brand step-ups. This step-up is now an essential accessory in my camera kit.

Well constructed, threads are clean. Does the job. I always scrape a #2 pencil along the threads before the 1st use. It prevents the threads from binding up and allows for easy removal.

Works great lets me use 82mm filters on my lens with 77mm filter threads with no issues, highly recommended.

I'm careful to avoid cross-threading my filters by first turning them counterclockwise until they are seated flush in the opposing threads. This ring's threading never seems to set. I've tried it with two lenses and another step-up ring.
