After 17 years I had to replace because tank was leaking. Wood platform was a mess so I had to build a new one. It was a project which took most of the day. I also had to change the power relay which took some time. Overall, it was a project most would not want to do but slow and steady won the day. Electric and gas worked the first time I turned them on. No need to adjust the flame on gas burner. I called suburban to make sure self installation did not void the warranty. Very satisfied with this product!

This is a great water heater. I had never installed one in an RV, but I went for it on this one, and it is pretty simple if you are patient with tight spaces. Double-check all your wire connections before installing; some connections can wiggle loose in shipping and transit. It does not come with the two connectors and bushings/seals you will likely need to upgrade or replace. (See pic) Most RVs use plastic connectors; I recommend upgrading to brass. The hot water coming out of this thing is excellent. Highly recommend.

As a DIY repair person, I was a bit concerned about replacing the hot water heater in my travel trailer. This model was a perfect fit and easy to connect if you follow the directions. I only got to try it once before Winter set in and now I am anxious to really try it out this Spring on an extended trip.

My old one started leaking, removal and reinstallation was a breeze, connections are easy and it is light enough for one person to lift it into place. A great do it yourslef project

Bought this brand new unit to replace old corroded one. Installed it and the AC heating element works fine. Went to connect the gas side of the heater. The module opened the gas solenoid, but would not operate the piezo lighter. Smell gas, but no click. Yes, temp is below 110 and wiring is correct. Suburban was closed for Labor Day weekend. Bought a replacement module from Amazon. Then, the spark clicker runs until it times out, but won't open the gas solenoid. Nobody could tell me if the module on Amazon is the correct one. Great. Out of curiosity, I pull the old nasty module out of the removed old water heater and everything works fine. Obviously just a bad module. It happens. But for that much money, think I deserve a new module. I wait until after the holiday and call Suburban. I found out that they have absolutely nothing to do with answering questions, service or warranty. All done through local dealers. The head office girl did say that I would have to remove the whole heater and take it to their dealer or they would not warranty it. Seems pretty stupid in this case, but doesn't matter, since the 3 local dealers given to me by Suburban refused to look at it or talk about it since I didn't buy it from them! Is this for real? If Ford or Chevy or Toyota did that, nobody would buy their cars. There are other companies making RV water heaters out there, I suggest you look at one of them. Ridiculous that the manufacturer won't even SELL you a warranty part. Run away.

It was several hundreds dollars cheaper than buying at the RV specialty shop and it works great.
