Why do you need this?
Simple, telescopes are typically designed to reach focus at the distance that will include a right angle mirror. SV158 extension tube allows you to extend the focal point without additional loss of light and distortion of another bit of optics
Anodized in black and brass compression ring
The whole SV158 2" extension tube is made of metal and the surface is completely black anodized. Greatly extended its service life
Filter thread on bottom side
The threading is on the inside so the filter when attached will not cause any problems and will fit into the focuser easily

SV158 extension tube is well made with two screws for a nice tight fit, the heads of both are quite large and easy for quick tightening or loosening.

This solved the problem of back focus (or out focus) with my TeleVue 27mm Panoptic when used in my Orion XT8 Dobsonian. The one negative is that the screws can easily get lost if you're not careful when loosening them. However, I've learned the secret and it works great. I love that I can screw a nebula filter into it and change eyepiece without having to screw/unscrew a nebula filter every time I want to use a different eyepiece.

It does the job at a fraction of the price and you get it quickly. You don't get a fancy box and glossy finish but it doesn't cost a fortune.

To achieve focus when switching between 90 deg diagonal for visual observing and straight through for astrophotography I had to remove the diagonal then the eyepiece adapter for the diagonal and screw in a threaded extension tube, finally reattach the eyepiece adapter. Spinning things on and off in the dark sometimes with cold hands other times with sweaty hands risked dropping pricey parts. Now I just loosen thumb screws to remove diagonal and put in this extension tube and retighten thumbscrews. Quick and easy and no wobble so pictures are great.

This is a bit longer than the included extension with my 8†Skywatcher dob, but it holds my 2†eyepiece sooooo much better. Recommended
