Quality as good as the "old days" (or at least very close). If you're repairing or building electronic apparatus, I believe it's worth the time and additional cost to do it right. You know the motto .. "you get what you pay for" IMO Switchcraft still makes the best jacks.

If you have an import electric gee-tah, do yourself a fav and have your Guitar Tech or Luthier install a Switchcraft #11 output jack. It's MILES better than the elcheap-o jack your Uzbekistan-made Velveetah Kamikaze fake LP guitar came with. I replace more broken Asian output jacks than any other item on all the guitars brought to my repair shop. This Switchcraft is cheap insurance as it is double-sprung and made from spring steel. It won't rust or easily oxidize. And remember kiddies.... it's an OUTPUT jack, not an input jack on your guitar. The input is on your amp!

I've often heard that a guitar jack is one of the first parts to fail on affordable guitars. So I wasn't shocked when the input jack on my new/old stock guitar brock after 2 weeksI recently got a silvertone 1478 reissue. I pulled the guitar cable out and it somehow stripped the threads off of the nut holding the jack in place. Luckily I had some extra switchfraft jacks leftover from a hello kitty diy pedal project. The switchfraft jack was obviously a higher build quality. The stock jack threads almost felt like plated plastic. The installation was easy however I did have to ream the pickgaurd slightly. I assume it's because the factory jack was thinner low quality metal than most. The fit and size of the hole only needed a slight adjustment to work. I didnt notice much of a sound difference however I'm sure it would have eventually been an issue. Glad I bought a multi pack of these.
