DO NOT THROW AWAY OLD PARTS!You will need the plastic holders for the rods because the new locks come with poor quality size and plastic. They do not fit over the rods and will break. Have a pair of needle nose pliers on the ready to swap out the plastic holders.The latches worked after replacing the plastic inserts.

This part fit perfectly using the original bolts. The hardware that came with the part might fit, but the bolts didn't look as durable as the originals. Aside from that, this part is actually better than the GM part. I had to replace the GM part because the bits that go around the striker are made of plastic and were worn to the point that the tailgate wouldn't open properly. Those same parts in this replacement unit are made of steel and should last the remaining life of the truck. Tailgate opens and closes properly now. Not sure I would recommend this if you don't have the original bolts, I would check the ones in the kit out thoroughly, or investigate before buying. I'm giving only 4 stars because in my opinion, the hardware kit should be better, but I'm happy with these using the original bolts.

worked like a charm - just use a trim tool to pop off the cover in the center then use the original bolts to reattach these latches if the originals aren't too corroded. The hardware in this kit wasn't a perfect match, but the latches themself are great. Also, release them by pulling the silver bar so that they're in the open position - little easier to install that way.
