These have been a lifesaver in my household; I have a dog who is allergic to beef and pork but LOVES to chew. I wasn't entirely sure what I was going to do until I found these at a local pet shop, and then Amazon started carrying them for a much (MUCH) more reasonable price. They're fantastic, with a few caveats.1. They're natural rawhide, so there's inevitably some variation in the package. Some pieces are very thick, others are very thin. If you want absolute consistency, these aren't the way to go, but in my opinion, it gives my dog a little more variety. I'm enclosing photos that encompass most of the "range" I tend to see in a bag, with thickest on the left and thinnest on the right. You can see a pretty clear difference between the width of the thickest (left most) pinched between my fingers and the thinnest (right most).2. I have a "slow and steady wins the race" kind of rawhide chewer. She chews them down slowly until they no longer exist. On the other hand, I know plenty of dogs who like to tear off bites, and in that case, the thicker pieces here might represent a problem. But if you have that kind of dog, you're probably not feeding rawhide chips to begin with.3. Despite not being flavored, my picky girl still loves them - quite a surprise given that "regular" rawhide resulted in snobby nose-turning-up back when she was allowed to eat beef. I guess bison must taste great!4. There's been some debate over sourcing in comments. I guess my response is that these always look and smell fresh, never have any discoloration or weird texturing, and the package is always sealed. I feel safe giving these to my dog.5. The question with rawhide chews is always "how long do they last" and the answer is, inevitably, "it depends!" (which is about as useful as a trapdoor on a lifeboat). Here's what I can offer: the thinner pieces tend to disappear relatively quickly, while the thicker ones stick around for a few days. She gets a lot of chewing time out of each. (And many packages later, "Do you want a rawhide chewy????" still produces a very excited dog.)Just an aside: my dog is 90 lbs and a *strong* chewer but not necessarily what I'd call a destructive one. She's pretty methodical. If your dog is smaller, you may want to cut these down, or look into a chew that's not as large - my guess is anything 40 lbs and up could manage nicely, but smaller dogs would have trouble.

I have a min-pin/pug and a whippet. The min-pin/pug has an under bite and has difficulty with round shapes. The whippet has jaws like iron and chews EVERYTHING.These suit both dogs and are pleasant for me... there is no stench when they are being chewed (as contrasted with store bought rawhides), there is no slimy goo hanging off them when my dogs stop chewing them (as contrasted to the cow-hide ones from the pet store), and my dogs will deliberately choose them over other rawhide choices.I have ordered multiple bags of these, and the quality is always high. My two dogs go through 1 bag every 2 1/2 weeks, which does cost a bit, but I am no longer replacing furniture (the whippet) or washing blankets and couch covers (slimy junk from the other rawhides).

My little jack russell terrier is allergic to beef but totally obsessed with chewing. Problem solved with these buffalo raw hides! They're quite large so they last him an entire day or 2. They don't smell. They're different thicknesses. My dog loves them. My only issue with them is the price but I think they're worth it for my little man to do what he loves!

My dogs liked these. I had to stop giving them to my male though. When these got small enough, they would adhere to the roof of his mouth and he could not remove them himself. I have never had this problem before, even with other buffalo rawhides. My female of the same breed is a little brighter than he is and did fine with them, but like flavored chews better.

We used to order these all the time and they are great bison chips but they started all coming very thick and my older dogs wouldn't use them. Luckily we order the small sticks!

While this product is more expensive than regular rawhides, it's definitely of a higher quality and well worth the cost. One 1lb bag of these chips lasts twice as longs as the 1lb bag of the Beefeaters peanut butter rawhide chips. Compared to regular rawhide chips, they have no unpleasant odor, which is a plus for us humans. The two beagles took to them just fine, even though they would only liked peanut butter flavored chips and ignored flavor-free ones. They each get one rawhide chips every other day or so, and so far, no vomiting associated with eating them (as compared to some other brands of rawhides or sweet potato chews that upset their stomachs.) With regular rawhides, we could distinctly discern undigested rawhide bits in the poo, but we've not noticed any undigested buffalo hide at all (...yes, we inspect our dogs' poo...it's gross but important). We like the fact that the chips are not all exactly identical in size or thickness. Sometimes we pick out thin chips for a quick treat/chew, and sometimes they get a thicker chip and it takes them 30min or so to get through one chip (and keep in mind these two have chewed through military grade Kevlar in under 20min). A few things to keep in mind: the buffalo hides seems tougher to get through in general and occasionally the girls will chew too hard and I'll notice gums bleeding on the rawhide and will have to take the chip away for a bit and give them a break. Both girls seem very thirsty after finishing one chip, so we provide them with plenty of extra water during and after getting a chip (neither pup showed increased thirst after eating a regular rawhide).

We us them in our holistic veterinary clinic as rewards and distractions for dogs. From puppies to seniors they are universally loved. I really like the variety in the package of thick to thin pieces as it offers an option for larger breeds or vigorous chewers as well as puppy teeth and smaller mouths. Many a happy client and patient has left our clinic with one of these in their mouths. Also, because they are buffalo and not beef, many dogs with beef allergies can actually tolerate these treats but not beef based treats. The entire staff recommends them!
