I wouldn't try to use this for salt water fishing from a boat. And I don't think it was intended to be used for big fish or boat fishing.It's lightweight, compact, and just right for ice fishing on fresh water with Pike, Walleye, etc.I almost gave 4 stars because it didn't include anything to cover the treble hooks while transporting. I just put some corks on and called it done.

I'm a disabled vet and cannot get down on my knees so I needed something to help me get fish out of my ice fishing hole. This does the trick. It was questionable at 1st since it didn't seem like it was built for heavier fish, but it worked on a 30 inch pike without any issue. Hooks are nice and sharp, and you don't have to hook the fish only in the mouth. It will go into the body easily if needed. The smaller fish that I release back, I do not hook them. This is a handy tool in my fishing arsenal.
