  • TIPS FOR BRANDING ON LEATHER: 1) Can be used on Oil Tanned Leather or Vegetable Tanned Leather. 2) Ensure leather is clean and oil free to get a good imprint. 3) Before branding your actual leather project, always practice and test the iron on scraps of the same type of leather to gauge the temperature and pressure needed.
  • SUGGESTIONS FOR BRANDING WOOD AND FOOD: 1) To get a well-defined imprint on wood, spritz the area with water or dab a damp towel over it before pressing your branding iron on the surface. As moisture makes it harder for the wood to burn, only the surface in contact with the wood branding head will burn, hence giving you a cleaner design. 2) When branding on food, go for meat or vegetables with firm textures. Lightly coat the branding iron with cooking oil to prevent food from sticking to it.
  • SO EASY TO HEAT UP YOUR BRANDING IRON: You may heat your branding irons with a gas cooktop, propane grill/torch or even over a campfire. These branding heads will need to be heated for 10 minutes for the best imprint results. Always wear heat-resistant gloves as your branding iron will get very hot.

Food items such as burgers, steaks, and buns. Other materials you can apply brands on include denim, cardstock, canvas, rubber, and suede.

Maybe you need an easy and inexpensive decoration piece next to your fireplace or in the “Man Cave”. The Leather Guy branding irons have a loop that the end of each handle where you can hang them or add a piece of leather lace to the loop to create the perfect accent to any room.

Each branding iron is handcrafted American made steel that measures 10” in length including the handle. The brand will vary in height and width depending on the shape of the brand you choose.

To get a feel for best dwell time and temperature required for your project it is best practice to first test on scraps. For best results using a small propane torch will quickly and evenly heat the brand, it is also important to make sure to apply pressure evenly to ensure a uniform impression. If you don’t have a torch the iron will need to be heated on a stove or grill for about 10 minutes, or more depending on the material you're branding. If heating is done over an open flame heating time will vary depending on how close the brand is held over the flames, the material you're branding, how dark you would like the brand to be, and its head size.

Exercise caution when heating irons as they will become very hot and will require the use of thick gloves when handling. When cooling the iron make sure to place it horizontally to not damage the brand.

Worked great. Heated with a propane torch, seems to heat evenly easily. Used on some hardwoods (oak and mahogany) burned fine, had to rock it around a little to get an even pattern which is to be expected. Star shape was cut nicely with no uneven length legs.

Should be made out of 1/4 inch flat bar not 3/16. Just a bit to thin and doesn’t hold any heat

very well made but wanted to do tracks like one walking. So have to see if i can make it universal track not just a right or left foot.
