Generally I use dark rosin for viola, but might also use for violin if I need a little extra grip or during the winter. I personally use a little sandpaper to scuff up the surface or else rosin won't stick. That is with any brand. I find too many reviewers of bows and rosin don't know to do this. Just hope that helps someone. This is great rosin. The quality is obvious, if you play viola or need extra grip for your violin this is perfect rosin and you won't be disappointed!

Okay, this is very good rosin. Sticks to the hairs very well.One thing that I did wrong that everyone should know. Do not scratch it. I have been accustomed to scratching my rosin but for this one do not scratch it. I gave mine 3 little scratches and a big piece fell out. All you need to do its just take it out of the package and start to rosin your bow. Hope that helps.

I'm a fan of Andrea rosin and tried this on the recommendation of a friend. I really like it too! A good grip without feeling crusty or clogged on the string. Good for situations where you want to be able to pump out sound.

I like this rosin, not as much as Jade, but this is as good as my $30 rosin.
