Simple design, the displays are a good size, the connectivity is fast and solid, the temps are accurate as verified by multiple independent electronic temp probes. Both screens of the device have a backlight on the two devices that remains on for about 15 seconds when activated.I’ve used this thermometer setup many times and it works well. The two probes allow the user to measure two items being cooked or one item and the grill or over temperature. The research I did demonstrated that this setup is used by many pro BBQ cooks and chefs.I thought about the wireless probe models but that introduces connectivity and charging issues and higher replacement costs if you need a new probe or two and the initial cost is 4-5 times what this one cost me on sale. I am happy with this device.Hope that helps!

I purchased the ThermoPro TP20 primarily to use when smoking meat/poultry in my masterbuilt gas smoker.I used to use a combination of an iGrill bluetooth thermometer that would send the smoker box temperature reading to my smart phone along with a standard corded digital thermometer to check the meat temperature. Using the iGrill was okay, but I would always get bluetooth dropouts and have to reconnect and stuff. Plus I had to physically go out to my smoker to check the meat temperature. I could have purchased another iGrill probe and kept with the smartphone connection, but I was sick of disconnects - oh, and all the while my smartphone battery is draining and I can't really roam too far away. So I decided to look for an alternative and found the ThermoPro TP20.I used the ThermoPro for the first time to smoke a whole turkey for Thanksgiving 2018. The ThermoPro worked flawlessly. Both the probes report the temperatures from the base station to the remote station. Also both of the temperature probes are a good size, really substantial compared to other probes I have used. I was able to program max temp thresholds and received alerts when for instance the smoker box temperature raised too high. I could leave the remote station in the kitchen and not worry about having my smartphone tied up with this nonsense. There were no disconnects between the probes and the base or remote stations at all. I did not test how far I could wander with the remote station though - all I know is that it performed much better than the iGrill bluetooth connection within the same vicinity. And that vicinity was really as far as I needed it to go - I can keep it in the kitchen, it works, no disconnects, I'm good.I was highly impressed by this device and glad I didn't need to tie up my smartphone anymore - and now I could use my smartphone's bluetooth connection to connect to a portable speaker for some music rather than temperature readings.I recommend this to anyone who is interested in monitoring the temperature of 2 items at one time (i.e.: maybe two meats, or maybe just one meat and your grill/smoker box temperature). I like the rubberized skin that the devices are covered with - they are bright orange so I can find the remote station quickly and will protect the devices from minor drops. This is easily a 5 star product. It was easy to set up and use and provides nice convenience so you don't have to hover around your grill/smoker all day.

These are very well made thermometer units. I had another before this but it was made of a cheaper plastic and just crapped out after a while. This one is covered in a rubbery material that make them less slippy-feeling. You can either hang the transmitter unit or use the fold out leg to set it on something. You can do the same with the receiver. It was easy to figure out how to set it up to follow the temps, and you can go with the pre-programmed temps or set it up to go off early if you want to bring the food in and rest it. We like to take our pork off early so it doesn't dry out and taste like paper. The one I had before this was difficult to sync, and had to be re-synced before each use. This one is a lot easier, and I only had to do it once. But the best part of all - and something I thought I would NEVER use - is the ability to watch two different temps at the same time, on the same receiver. I didn't think I'd ever use it, but I use it all the time. You would need to invest in two separate units to do the things I'm about to tell you.1) You can just use one probe (which is how I thought I would use it exclusively).2) You can put one probe into the meat and use the other to monitor the ambient temp inside the grill/smoker/oven. They give you metal clips to keep the probe tip away from hot surfaces for that purpose.3). You can use it to monitor temps in two different parts of the meat (or other item you're cooking). That works great for things like chicken or turkey that have dark and light meats that take different times to be cooked right.4). You can cook two different kinds of meat (or chili, or casseroles, etc.) at the same time, even on two separate cooking fires. The final plus I can think of is that both the transmitter and the receiver operate on batteries, so you can even take them camping. The ONLY thing I think is missing is a storage/carrying case of some kind. I just "borrowed" one of my wife's clear plastic refrigerator containers and - problem solved. Everyone who is a semi-serious cook/griller/camp cook needs to get one of these!Jan 8, 2017 UPDATEI just found out that there IS a case for this item. Actually, there are several. One is from a . I got an email from Amazon with a link to one from a company called Caseling. I ordered one (from a company called LTGEM) that's a few bucks cheaper, and that has space below the receiver for an extra set of batteries - again, great for people who use this for camping. Paying $15-$20 for a case seems pricey, considering that a couple of bucks worth of Tupperware will do the same thing (and you probably already have it in your cabinets somewhere). But I got one anyway because my wife says I have money to burn ;-)

This is simply a great wireless thermometer. It is actually a newer, upgraded version which has a longer 500ft range, a double display on the sending unit, and it comes with the probe winders that were not even mentioned or listed in the description. I've been using it for a few months now and have found it to be right on the money temperature wise, and having two probes is much more useful than I could have imagined, considering I never even considered a dual probe unit in the past. But when I came across this one on sale for under $25, and with an additional $5 discount coupon, I jumped on it. Looking back, I should have picked up a few extras at that price as gifts but I didn't want to get greedy and possibly prevent someone else from getting one. That being said, it is an amazing unit, and it is very durable as well because I've dropped it a couple of times and it did not even shut off, it simply continued working. The probe winders are fantastic and do a perfect job of keeping the probe wires from tangling and kinking. Every thermometer should come with these. Now that I have them, I would pay to replace one if it ever got lost.As usual with Thermopro, the unit came with batteries and was nicely packaged. It wasn't overpackaged for shipping either, just enough to keep it from being damaged. I am extremely pleased with this unit and now the only thing I need to do is get a proper case for it, I still keep it in the box it came in, which is fine for now, but it deserves a decent case.Anyhow, this is a great wireless thermometer and I recommend it highly. Even if you only need a single probe unit, trust me, you will find a use for the second probe very quickly, I know I did. If you ever see it on special for a great price, get one. Better yet, get one for a friend while you are at it. I know that I am keeping my eyes open and will grab another one if I see it for the price I paid! :)

These probes are great and very accurate! Used for cooking in a standard oven and also on a bbq pellet grill.Range seems to be excellent, have had no issues with connectivity and the battery life has been great. Used multiple times and still on the same batteries.A number of presets are programmed for different meat types and taste types for cooking steak to desired doneness. Unit also has a timer built in that goes up to 99 minutes 59 seconds and can count up too.Small fold out stand on the main unit and a screw hole for hanging is very useful and on the transmitter there is a small clip that can be used to hang the unit from.
