There are times, like this month, when my consigned projects require me to sew and/or embroider portions by hand. After a while, pushing the needle through fabric irritates my thumb. I've tried metal and leather thimbles, but find them bulky and unwieldy - they make it hard to sew. When I saw this thimble tape, I thought 'What a great idea!'. The tape works like that medical tape that holds together without glue, only this tape is a different material and texture. It looks woven and feels like silicone. All I do is cut off a section and wrap it around my thumb. It stays in place, and my thumb is protected from the needle. When I'm finished with it, I slide it off my thumb. Since it holds its shape, I'll probably be able to use one piece multiple times. I think this is a awesome invention!

My review is for the Thimble Tape for Hand Sewing - Fully Adjustable Nail & Finger Protector - A Smarter Alternative to Classic Knitting Thimbles - White Cloud, 2-PackWhite cloud color = plain ol white (will probably look dirty with minimal use?)2 pack for decent pricing, slightly more expensive for 2 rolls compared to the single roll pricing I've seen at my LQSPros - a product super similar to koban (coban?) you see in healthcare. So I was familiar already with how to put it on...just make sure you use enough of it that a sharp needle can't penetrate. Cheaper honestly for these 2 rolls than many reusable thimbles (at least the nice ones, like the leather versions that feel better on my skin)Cons - obviously this is more wasteful, being a consumable product, than if you'd use a re-usable thimble or no thimble (generally what I do...at the peril of my fingertips!)Bottom line: I WILL purchase again (once I run out). but more likely to purchase in a bright color (show me fuchsia, teal, bright green, or purple, please!

IΓ’β¬β’m so glad I decided to try this Thimble Tape for hand sewing! ItΓ’β¬β’s an absolute game-changer, especially if you get annoyed with traditional thimbles like me and end up not using them. The tape is soft yet durable, and itΓ’β¬β’s incredibly easy to apply to your fingers. It provides just the right amount of cushioning, preventing any pricks or discomfort while sewing, but itΓ’β¬β’s not bulky or restrictive at all.

My seamstress wife needs to use a thimble to protect here fingers when hand sewing. However, when she puts a normal metal thimble on her finger, she tends not to use that finger. That is not helpful. This finger wrap is her solution. She can wrap her finger tip and the finger is well protected. The wrap feels more natural so she can forget about it and use her finger as normal, but it is still protected. She really hoped this wrap would solve her problems but it did not. The finger wrap is a gauss-like material. You wrap it around the tip of your finger until you get the right thickness for protection. The material doesnΓ’β¬β’t really stick to itself like the tape the technician puts on your arm after giving blood. She found that she needed to wrap all the way from the tip of the finger to up and over the first knuckle of her finger. If she didnΓ’β¬β’t wrap that far up, the whole gauss pad would tend to slide off.The wrap often didnΓ’β¬β’t completely stop the back of a needle from being pushed near to the fingertip. When that happened, you might avoid some pain with the protective cushioning but the needle would often get caught a bit in the layers and it would often become unthreaded. ThatΓ’β¬β’s quite an annoyance. She tried multiple times with this fingertip wrap, but in the end, she gave up because it was not very effective for her.

This works as it should. It sticks very well to itself, is easy to layer and easy to form a thick barrier. Plus you get quite a bit for the price.

Absolute garbage! No adhesive at all. Useless unless you wrap with sticky medical tape or vinyl electrical tape afterwards. In fact, why bother with the thimble tape at all!! IΓ’β¬β’d give it 0 stars if I could!

ThereΓ’β¬β’s been a lot of hype about this thimble tape in the quilting world and I was excited to try it. In theory itΓ’β¬β’s a good idea, but it fails somewhat in the actual implementation. I followed the directions exactly but found this thimble tape to be too thick and bulky (10-12Γ’β¬Β is way too much tape). It was hard for me to feel the needle and it wasnΓ’β¬β’t easy to grip it either. Although it can be removed, it was loose when I put it back on. I have tried nearly every kind of thimble available and realize that I much prefer the soft silicone or rubber thimbles for all the reasons I donΓ’β¬β’t like this tape. In my opinion, itΓ’β¬β’s really just glorified first aid tape or vetwrap and I feel itΓ’β¬β’s overpriced for what it is. It might come in handy to protect my finger when using my cordless vacuum but I wonΓ’β¬β’t be using this for sewing.

I wasn't sure that this tape would be a substitute for a metal thimble. I first tried with a small piece but quickly found that I did need to pull off the suggested 8-12 inches and wrap this around the selected finger- the tape does make a great substitute for a metal thimble- it also helps me to hold on the needle to pull it through the fabric.
