Great product for the DIYer or anyone who repairs equipment. Large variety of chasers and taps in course ,fine and metric threads that range from 1/4" to 5/8". This set will let you deal with most of the nuts and bolts that you deal with the most. It pays for itself the first time you are in a bind and have to get something put back together.Case is strong and well organized.

This set is nice to have around the house. It works for cleaning threads on bolts and bolt holes. If you are a mechanic, I would get something with more exact tolerances, and that is made better. These will not hold up to a lot of use. It does come in a nice case to keep it organized, in and out of the toolbox.

This thread chaser set is meant for "restoring" rusted and damaged threads. These are essentially a very dull and slightly undersized tap that at most would remove minimal amounts of metal from the existing threads. These have are similar to cutting a slot or 2 into a bolt of the appropriate thread size. These are great for cleaning out tapped holes on engines if RTV or other sealers are used on the fasteners. Some people claim that chasing/cleaning threads with a regular tap is bad practice but I tend to disagree on this. The reason you may notice additional metal being cut if you chase a tapped hole with a tap is likely due to the tap you're using having a different tolerance grade than the tap used to cut the original threads. So realistically you should be fine using your regular tap & die set to clean out threads but if you're going to be doing the action often and don't want to have to worry about possibly messing up your threads then pick up a set like this which is basically fool proof.

I used this kit on a couple bolts I had that were corroded and grimy. It cleaned up the threads nicely. I tried to use one of the chasers on a cross threaded hole but it was too far gone. You would need a legit tap and dye kit to truly repair threads, but this kit is great for minor chewed up/dirty/corroded threads.

This is one of those things that you don't want to have to use, but are glad to have it around if you ever need to use it. I just tried this kit with a rusted nut, and a painted over bolt and it worked like a charm. I can't comment on how long this will last, but for the price, it's a must have.

After carefully reading the reviews, I took a chance and ordered this 48 Piece rethreading tool set. I was expecting a solid set, but instead I received a product akin to something being sold at a liquidation warehouse. The Tool Set was delivered in a plastic envelop instead of a normal cardboard packaging box. The red plastic blow molding case was damaged at the corners. All the pieces were disorganized. I received two identical M10 x 1.50 Taps. There were several missing pieces. There was only one plastic red handle for the thread restorer file but the images showed two plastic pieces. Some of the threads were also damaged and even one of the metric threads had a manufacturing defect. So I can't really tell if the pieces are poorly manufactured, or perhaps they got damaged because of the bad plastic case or poor packaging. Regardless I would definitely not recommend this set.

Cheap kit, most bolts and nuts pass thru loosely and removes very little loctite or rust. Burrs on inside of 1/4" destroyed a 1/4" bolt that was clean, not cross threaded, unable to remove tool from bolt now. I wish I had bought a better kit, money wasted.
