As part of her community earthquake preparedness, she had a whistle on her nightstand to call for help. Within minutes, people in the neighborhood heard the loud whistle and came to help, removing the rubbles and rescued her. This is a true story.We also live in the West Coast prone to possible big earthquake.I am happy now to have a very small whistle that is capable of very loud 130 decibal signal that can alert anyone quite a distance away. I know that rescue dogs can hear this whistle even farther away.This whisle is made of steel and unlike the cheaper plastic dollar store type, it will last a long time and will continue to be reliable when needed. You don’t need that much effort to produce the loudest sound. It’s very effective.Beside this above mentioned disaster use, this small whistle can hook to your keys and carry around for your personal safety to alert others when you are in possible danger. It can also help you to control your pets. Besides it can be used by lifeguards to warn people of dangers or other safety needs.Great product. Handy and useful.

I have something similar on my keyring that is roughly twice the size (1.5 to 2x, just by eyeballing them next to each other). I find no discernable difference in decibel level between that whistle and this whistle, which is impressive considering this one is roughly half the size (both are metal, they even look similar, just my other one is a triple barrel, and this one is a double barrel).This smaller size, yet seemingly equal performance, makes it perfect for my wife's keyring -- she is more minimalist in her keyring, while mine has 40 keys and 37 of them I couldn't tell you what they go to...so yeah, I'm a key hoarder and she's not haha.Definitely feels well made, loud, small and lightweight -- not a whole lot more I could ask for!

It's extremely loud. Loud enough to hurt your ears if blown at full volume. It is also versatile enough that you can blow lightly into and it will still produce noise at a lower volume. It would be great for emergency use.I go hiking, camping, and rockhounding a lot out in the wilderness a lot and I'm excited to attach the whistle to my hiking pack with the keychain ring it came with. It is loud enough that if I were to get lost or get into any trouble while out in the middle of nowhere, I would feel confident that anyone near by would hear it and be alerted to my whereabouts.I also love how small and compact it is so it does not take up a lot of space. It's also very shiny so it would be easy to find if I dropped in on the ground on accident or if I had it in a pocket. It's a great survival tool to have.

This fan is super loud and just the right size to attach to your keychain. The metal is actually pretty solid. All around this is a great emergency whistle. I plan on using it for primitive camping trips.

This is really light, and is really loud, so it's perfect for me. I found it easy to blow on to make it whistle loudly.It fits well on a keychain which is exactly what I wanted it for. It's fantastic for the price!

This is a great Whistle for being a life guard, and if you're stranded, but not hurt.Unfortunately, with this whistle, if you're hurt and weak, and unable to blow hard, then you'll barely be able to get a sound out of this whistle.

This whistle is loud for being such a small size. It is perfect for taking on walks, jogging, hikes or anywhere to be used in case of emergency. Included in the package was a metal ring so it can be attached to a key chain, backpack, or any place you like. The 2 different whistle tones are nice and clear. Since there are no moving parts, this whistle should last a very long time. The first I tried this whistle in the house, my dog came running to me, which I thought was pretty cool. I usually whistle for him but sometimes for some reason I can't whistle very loud. Besides, my dog is getting older and doesn't hear as well as he used to. So it was pretty nice that he responded to this whistle.

What's there to say about a whistle? It should be loud enough, stay out of the way when you don't need it, and be right where you can find it when you do need it. This whistle meets all those criteria.I have it attached to the zipper on my PFD for kayaking and it fits my need perfectly. with any luck I won't have to use it all that often.
