88 toyota 4x4 lost all cabin air settings 1, 2, 3, then 4 too.apparently when this unit dies, we lose 1 and 2, then only 3 and 4 will work.3 worked for a few months and then only 4 (the highest setting).after that, I blew the fuse.changed out the fuse, and got 3, 4 back, but still no 1 or 2. Found a tutorial and found this thing only held in by 1 phillips screw, and one plug. Extremely easy to swap out, but difficult to see b/c it's closes to your passengers toes. well, swapped my old one out and now with the new fuse, and this part, I have all 4 fan settings again.Excellent product appears to be better than my old one.the old one was merely 3 springs (resistors) and the new one has a ceremic topping/coating.wish I knew this a year ago when I originally lost 1 and 2.also, the fan motor itself had pine needles and leaves in it, which slowed down the fan, and caused the resistor to overheat. So, if you fan is making noise, clean it out (3 philips screws) and whenever it makes clicking noises, it's a leaf or other debris in there. These old vehicles don't have filters, so if you park under a tree, it's only a matter of time.

One screw installation and worked perfect in my 1987 Toyota Pickup. Blower motor speed problem solved...

Works perfectly. Now I have all my speeds back on my Heater/AC. Hop it lasts as long as my original one (26 years). Of course, I will be dead by then !

Happy camper, literally. Took me years of living with a fan blower motor on my 87 Toyota pickup (RV) that didn't have a low-speed mode. Always assumed it would involve dismantling the whole dashboard to get to the selector switch but then discovered that it's a simple matter of replacing the blower motor resistor (which I could see had clearly burned out when I pulled out the old one). It sits in the passenger footwell, up against the firewall, poking into the heater ducting where it is cooled by the blown air. Easy enough to swap out the old one, but you might have to do it upside down with your legs sticking out the window so make sure you take the right tools and a mini flashlight with you.

I could not figure out for the life of me why my blower fan only had maximum speed. This was the answer for my ‘88 4Runner. Kind of a pain to access but got it eventually. Factory yota so I won’t be having to do that again probably ever.

You don't have to live with a vent fan control where two of the four speeds don't work. I should have replaced this thing years ago. This part fits perfectly -- but it's a pill to install especially if you wear bifocals. Also, in my opinion it's a little pricier than it should be. But I'm glad I bought it.
