Your cart is empty. FetHead Germanium is a high quality, in-line microphone preamplifier. It provides a punchy and direct, ‘larger than life’ germanium sound for ribbon and dynamic microphones, adding classy Germanium harmonics. Sounding full and rich it is reminiscent of much higher priced vintage gear, making FetHead Ge's desirable coloration a really great addition to (Interface) preamps which sound rather neutral. Germanium transistors were widely used in earliest transistor designs by Neve, EMI, Telefunken, and Fairchild, and have developed a reputation for a decidedly vintage mojo that remains sought after today. We created a novel hybrid circuit that consists of low noise JFets and a hand-selected ‘new old stock’ germanium transistor to take full advantage of the "Germanium" sound and at the same time achieve the same sonic quality we are known for.
Some ribbon microphone do not tolerate phantom power. FetHead Germanium circuit uses 48v phantom power but shields it from the microphone, your microphone is protected.

If you have a dynamic mic and you have to crank the input gain on your audio interface to get a decent signal level, this is a must-have alternative. Gives you a strong, clean signal and allows you to keep the input gain down, lowering the noise floor. If you're a $10k professional music producer, you'll probably want a higher-end preamp. If you're making a podcast and just want a decent mic signal, this is a well-made, cost-effective solution.

Does exactly what it says, adds clean boost to a gain hungry SM57 my bass player immediately noticed a difference at rehearsal today. Germanium adds a certain low mid girth to my vocal and gives my board's eq more juice at each setting. I got a great deal on this too at 69$ on sale. I'm happy.

I got this for my new MV7 dynamic micthinking it would help gainbut right away I noticed that its connection on the micwas super loose for some reason.I'm not sure if I got a faulty one or it's my MV7 xlr port problem.but with a regular xlr cable I used on MV7 fits perfectly fineand stays in place so I think it's indeed this Triton Fethead that's loose.I'm going to return this.

Adds gain without noise between my SM57 and focusrite 2i2 to record my acoustic guitar. Works great! Now the mic pics up my mistakes too... guess I gotta work on that.

I normally don't write reviews, but this is such a game changer. I am a very experienced podcaster, and recently have been out on the road and just been in disbelief at how bad my SMB7+Zoom H6 sounds - the noise floor was SO HIGH! I had to process it to the point of it sounding robotic to get rid of it. Descript Studio sound often works miracles but even that was struggling. Who would have thought it would be this simple? With this attached, I can dial the H6 from level 8 down to level 4 or 5. At 4 the noise floor isn't even audible, around -60db compared to -50db without at the same level. I could presumably make it even better by swapping out the H6 for something lower noise, but this alone is pretty much all you need, HUGE improvement

It worked excellent when recording my acoustic guitar, and I have heard some videos of people recording drums, it also worked pretty good. I didn’t find it quite useful when recording vocals though. I think that for recording vocals, if using a dynamic mic, is better to use a pre-amp console. In my case I am using an interface, so for recording vocal, mic goes plugged to the preamp first and then to the interface.
