Really good for solo work. Does not sound like a regular bucket mute, but kinda has the characteristics of a bucket. It played well in tune out of box with no need to file the corks. No significant back pressure too. I like it.

Fantastic mute. I love the sound and the feel of this mute. Free blowing with almost no back pressure. It is super light, stays put and sounds great. Unlike all my other mutes, this one sounds great all the way down to low F#. This is my new favorite.

Goes well with my all-aluminum mute theme. Keep in mind, section blending might not be good if other players are using different mutes

I bought this because Wynton sounds so cool with it. Definitely a solo mute. The big band bucket mute sound is traditionally the clip-on-the-bell style, even though we always use flugelhorns when the music asks for bucket. Jo-Ral makes great mutes for the price.

A different sound. Full of floss and kind of quiet, but not much back pressure, not stuffy. Lightweight, but does take up more space in the case than a cup.
