want to go to the dealer and they charge 120 for JUST THE PART?or maybe 220 plus labor. or you can go to an autoparts store and pay 300?or you can be smart and go on amazon and pay 25, install it yourself with nothing but a 10mm socket, and enjoy your hood closing again. i would choose the latter. buy this, its worth it. easy to install, heck even the latch that hooks onto the ring is made of nothing else but METAL. the OEM is plastiC!!! THATS Why it fails.please just buy this.

My 17 year old tried shutting the trunk of our 2010 Toyota Corolla with something in the way. The latch ended up broken. This new latch came in a day early and probably took five minutes to install. I guess you don't know how great a working trunk latch is until you don't have one. This one is working great so far.

The emergency release cable on the original 2009 Corolla latch broke so I bought this to replace it. Not that anyone's ever actually going to lock themselves in the trunk but you never know. It's easy to install but I found that the fit is not "exact" and I had to bend the rod that attaches the latch to the key mechanism some before it would open easily with the lever next to the driver's seat or wirelessly via the key fob. WARNING! - make sure that you have access to the trunk before closing it after installing this. I suggest folding down the back seats. ATTENTION! In my Corolla, you can't fold down the back seats to expose the trunk unless you pull the latch release knobs FROM WITHIN THE TRUNK! I guess that seemed like a cool design to some Toyota engineer. I nearly had to call a lock smith because after installing this I couldn't open the trunk with fob, front seat lever or key! Thankfully after messing with the key a while it opened. Probably did some damage to the key cylinder in the process. In the end it works but OEM it is not.

This after market trunk lock actuator fits exactly like the OEM, and works just like it should. If it lasts as long as the original unit, then it's very good value for money vs the OEM.

Took me 10 min to change it by myself on a corolla 2011. There’s a video on youtube how to do it. Save your money!
