Just before Christmas 2022 I purchased a pair of these for two reasons. First, the old rechargeable Motorola walkie talkes I've had for years were a pain in the you-know-what because of the size of the charging stations and the type of batteries they use. Second, I needed a few electronic devices that run on AA batteries because I've accumulated quite a number of those and they are starting to age out without being used. Did I mention the pair of M880s cost less than $20? I was expecting something more in line with a child's toy, but the M880s that arrived were nothing like that. They are well built, solidly designed, sturdy, attractive and very easy to use. I did have to spend some time with the user manual to get them set up to function but once done, it would be difficult to forget how that is done. The sound is superb. We haven't been able to test them for max range yet, but for in-store like SAMS and Home Depot, they worked flawlessly and they work well from the inside of our house to any part of our 1-acre property. I'm really impressed with these. When I get a chance, I'll follow up with an edit to show the results of my range testing but for now, these are well suited for the in and around our home and property. So well suited that I purchased another pair about a week ago. Are you kidding me - under $20? Looks like these will be Christmas gifts for some of our friends next holiday season if the price stays this low.

Everyone commented on my 13 year old daughter and I ability to communicate. It worked throughout the boat except when we were on opposite ends of the ship. Other than that they worked great. Carnival has an app to communicate via text but it doesn’t ping you or ring. ($5 for text per person) So if you don’t look at the app you don’t know someone texted up. The walkie can ring or you hear a person talking.I recommend for a cruise

These walkie-talkies are super cute and really affordable, and I have to say, they’re a lot better than I expected! My kids absolutely love them. The color options are fun, and they have multiple channels to choose from. I did get a laugh when my kids ended up chatting with truck drivers on one of the channels, which kind of reminded me of those old CB radios from back in the day!The walkie-talkies have little grips on the sides that make them easy for my kids to hold, and the button to talk is soft and easy to press. The sound is nice and loud, and the clarity is great, too. The range is better than I thought it would be, and we’ve had no issues with it working around the house or in the yard. For the price point, these are awesome. I also really like that they take good old-fashioned AA batteries. Sometimes those USB charging methods really limit your usage, and I’m just old-school enough to appreciate the convenience of being able to swap in fresh batteries whenever needed.Overall, these are a fantastic deal. They’re simple, work well, and are perfect for kids who want to stay connected while playing. If you’re looking for something easy and reliable, these walkie-talkies are a solid choice!

This is for the Topsung 2-way FRS portable radio. The purchase menu has a lot of delicious colors to choose from. The unit holds in one's hand nicely for most any age person. The controls are easy to use. The user manual is good however, has the usual mislabels (i.e. calling it "batteries" whereas, it should say "cells", etc.).There are too many risks of explosion or fire with the Li and other type rechargeable batteries therefore, this user uses alkaline cells for the battery. This is especially true when traveling whereas, AA cells are very common and available plus, there may be commercial flight restrictions concerning the formentioned type of battery in electronic devices. For (low end) Chinese junk they work well in using them for about a year under constant, 24-hour operation. One radio did fail and the "repair" was to whack it on the side reviling poor QC mostly likely in poor connections either on the PCB or other solder points. Actually, from dropping one unit accidentally, it still continued to work for months indicating the user may have been a fault for the mentioned failure. For tower (telecom work) or family use they are a good value; they are well worth the very low cost. Suggestion is to purchase several so you are not without communications when this happens. The power E.R.P. fair to low performance so one should expect short coverage in obstructed areas, such as buildings and basements. For line-of-sight operations it may be possible for a mile or more coverage. The short antenna on the unit is the main cause for limited range which is typical for a FRS radios found on the market. The battery saver is fantastic being it lasts 2-3 weeks between battery changes. That's a far cry from the more expensive radios tested. One has to remember to press the PTT, then wait 1-2 seconds before saying something meaningful. This is especially true when using the tone squelch feature. Failure to observe this can lead to missing words heard at the far end causing user confusion. The problem is typical with most tone coded squelch radios. With some user discipline the issue is minimal.I would purchase more of these radios for future projects.

While remodeling our master bedroom, my wife and I were in separate rooms. We bought these for pillow talk and booty calls, and they created a lot of fun. Who needs texting when you can use your imagination for your own handles and trucker talk? 10-4 good buddy. Captain Commando says buy these.

Bought these to place in a robot so I could talk through it but it does not have a external speakerconnection. I thought it was a standard 3.5mm connection but it is something I don't recognize so can'tuse an external speaker otherwise they seem to be okay. There was nothing in the directions that saywhat these connections will accept. The initial setting-up didn't seem to work the way the directionsindicated.
