This is an amazing rod for beginners. I personally use this rod for cat fishing. I use this for cat fishing because I am impressed by the functions on this rod. One of the best fuctions is the portability with the telescopic design it makes it very convenient for me to go fishing. And you may think the durability isn’t good due to other telescopic design are that durable but this ugly stik rod is one of the most durable rod I have you can use this for catfish,carp,bass and even ocean fishing! And the amazing white color makes it more unique since either rod are mostly black these rods are kid friendly for 10-14 year old! I would always use this rod and you guys should buy this!

I purchased this for my niece a few months ago and we’ve been going out fishing a couple times a week and it’s held up great so far. The reel seems kind of cheap but still works so far. I was a little worried about the telescopic part of the pole causing problems or breaking but I’ve been pleasantly surprised it’s been handling the catfish and everything else she’s caught without any problems. I’m picking up another one now to take in my suitcase on vacation for some saltwater fishing in the Keys.

I give this rod 5 stars because of its functionality compared to the price. With that said, this is not a high end rod, but it does work just as good as its $100 - $150 counter parts. I purchased the saltwater version because I primarily target striper this time of year. On the first day I received it, I cast it about 100 times with no issues and caught two stripers (pictures). Again, this is not a high end rod, so don’t expect to preform like its higher end counterparts. However, it does what it is made for. I would recommend changing out the prespooled mono line with braided line for better casting (the picture is with the braided that I had changed out). The mono line it comes with works fine, that’s what I caught the pictured stripper with, but it doesn’t cast very far with mono. It comes with a 7 year warranty on the rod. Also if you don’t like it, then your only out $36. Great backup rod also. Enjoy!

I bought this rod because it was cheaper, small, and marketed as something that would be good for beginners or who wanted to try fishing. I eventually learned how to cast the line, but the spincast reel is maybe something that would be better suited for someone who knows how to fish. However, because this rod requires two parts connected together, there were several times when I was casting that one part would fly off and land in the water, and I would be reeling that piece out of the water and then having to disentangle it from algae, etc. I haven't fished since I was little so I didn't really catch anything, but I did feel turtles bite at my bait so you can feel when there is a nibble. It seems like a lot of veteran fisherman are catching fish, so part of this is just skill, but then again I'm sure a veteran fisherman can catch fish with any stick.

I proudly have the worst fishing channel on YouTube "George Does Stuff". While it may be terrible I love fishing!! I am also cheap!! This little rig is SUPER cheap! The rod is everything you expect with an Ugly Stik. Inexpensive, wiggly and tough as nails!! I really enjoy the fact that it's a two piece so it's easy to throw in your vehicle and have a rig ready to go whenever! I will say I do NOT like the reel. It's good for a beginner but I upgraded mine to a Shimano Sienna (500) which is a very smooth reel for $30. The kit comes with some great stuff for creek fishing. Highly recommend!!! This is 3rd one I've purchased!

These are cheap sturdy rods but mine came all bent up didn’t notice until i put new line on it. Thankfully I have an extra reel to throw on it but it’s unfortunate and could be prevented with some packing paper or something to help stabilize the box. My box arrived all crushed. Not the companies fault more on the delivery end of things but still it was sitting alone in the cardboard box with nothing in there to help protect it on its travels. Bummer I thought the purple reel was cute.

La verdad no pensé que fuera a ser muy buena , y cuando la recibà pensé en devolverla sin siquiera probarla, pero cuando la probé me di cuenta de lo buena que es, tiene una sensibilidad excelente, y es muy fuerte , la he probado tanto en agua salda como dulce sacando distintas especies de peces y todo perfecto, me gusta llevarla al lÃmite asà que cuando me atasco hago mucha fuerza y la doblo bastante y es increÃble lo resistente que es. Sinceramente se merece 5 estrellas, eso si recomiendo cambiarle el hilo que trae ya que no es muy resistente pero de igual manera pueden usarlo bien.

Excelente combo para un rato de diversión, les recomiendo cambiar la linea que tiene, de ahà en fuera es un buen combo para trucha y lobina.
