If you plan to use this for lathe-work, It's plenty fine. The rod rolls on a table with warp, and I measured the diameter with a range of 1.620 - 1.650. Technically over tolerance of what the description quotes. But, helpful information for anyone hoping for a specific diameter ( or very round ) rod. Other than that, Plenty of stock to remove on a lathe to turn it down to 1.500" and be as true/round as you could need it to be.

Sometimes, you just need something. The dimensions were accurate, the material came in appropriate shape. I purchased it for the purposes of machining some small parts on my mini-lathe. I am very happy. Beyond that, I had no additional expectations and all expectations were fully met.
