Thank you Jesus we have hot water!!! Our 1999 Jamboree propane hot water heater started giving us problems and after repeated repair costs and arduous packing to drive the rig for propane-we finally decided to give this hot rod a try. My husband who is new to rv-ing was able to install it in about an hour. He watched YouTube videos on how to install it. Now we have hot water 24/7 and the empty propane tank can stay empty until we’re ready to move. He used the exterior entertainment center power plug as his power source by pulling it into the cupboard area. It made it way simpler than running new power. We don’t have an exterior plug now but we really only used it for Christmas lights anyway. We would buy this product again.

I installed this Hot Rod a year ago and it has been a very nice upgrade to my Dometic RV hot water heater. My propane option still works OK, but there are times in just the right conditions that the propane sets off the RV propane detector. Also I am saving a bit of gas and in a couple more season this upgrade will pay for itself. I wrap the treads in pipe tape and remove the unit after each trip. This also allow me to flush the tank. I have observed that lime will build up on the electrode, but placing the Hott Rod in a baggie with vinegar will quickly clean it up. You could run the Hott Rod with the propane if you really wanted quick hot water. This displaces the anode rod, but this won't be an issue (at least in my case where access to quality water has been easy).

This product fit perfectly with the adapter for my hotwater heater. The instructions were spot on in installing the item. shipping was fast, no damage to box once received and inspected. The element heats the water in a timely manner nothing super fast but expected with a lower watt element, but gets very hot. I would recommend adjusting the temperature after you install. Adjusting in simple, and explained in instructions. only reason product is not getting a 5 star is I have only used the system acouple of times an want to see if any issues pop up later. It is cheaper than replacing the entire propane igniter setup. Will purchase again.

We bought a new motorhome and being our first I did not read all the specs well enough. It only had a propane water heater in it. Using propane all the time could get expensive. For that reason, I turned the water heater off after using hot water, but never back on before my wife needed hot water. Boy did I hear about that! When my wife found this device on line, I knew it was the solution I wanted. Installation of the heater element was messy but easy once the tank drained. Getting 120 VAC under the sink near the hot water tank was the challenge. Because I tied into the circuit feeding the microwave I wanted an on/off (see my review of that switch her on Amazon) switch to be in the area of the microwave. The thermostat was tricky since I could not find a flat surface on the water tank. I was able to mount the actual sensor on the tank and everything works. So now we leave this heater on most times (except when microwaving) and have hot water whenever it is needed. We found the recovery time after a shower to be 10 minutes.Due to the type water heater tank our motorhome has, this install requires an anode fitting that must be replaced yearly. Not a bad price to pay for all this hot water. But it has bee difficult to find a replacement. Good I have several months left to do this.I will return with an update after one year.

My daughter and I installed this a couple of weeks ago. It was very simple to install and took us less than 30 minutes. We used it for 5 days camping and never ran out of hot water. I only wish I had bought it 3 years ago. It is so nice not to have to worry about running out of propane. Propane can get expensive, and most campgrounds have electric hookups included, so no more cost for hot water. We were having issues with our water heater shutting off when the water got too hot, pilot light going out, being hard to start even with the electric starter, and hearing that big "kaboom" that could wake the dead every time it failed (I know we aren't the only ones because I've heard other water heaters in the campground make the same sound). The directions were very well detailed and simple to follow. I used a socket wrench (1 1/16) to remove the anode rod, flushed out the tank, and inserted the heating element using the correct adapter. Then I drilled a hole in the exact spot shown in the directions to run the heater cord through, attached the thermostat to my tank from inside the camper, attached the power cord and heater cord according to the directions, and ran it under my cabinet to a plug-in. I did not plug it in until I filled my tank with water and checked for leaks. You must have water hooked up and running to your camper, and the tank full, to use this kit. If you plug it in without water in your tank, the heating element will burn out, void warranty, and possibly cause a fire. Just make sure you are hooked up to water and electric before plugging it in or flipping the switch if you installed one. Like I said before, it only took about 30 minutes, but half that time was spent drilling the hole because I didn't have the correct size drill bit. If you follow the directions and the color coded connectors you will have it connected in no time. The company that makes them is very helpful if you have a question. I think I got their phone number from the website. I do not have both an anode rod and drain plug, so my question was if it was okay to not have an anode rod. The guy I spoke to got anode rod confused with heating element and told me I would be able to connect them both together instead of using the adapter. Needless to say I ordered a new anode rod, waiting an extra day for it to arrive, only to find out what I suspected, it was not possible to use both. I saw this in the questions, so that is why I am telling this story. Hopefully it helps someone. When I talked to him a second time and finally got him to understand what I was talking about, we both felt silly, him for picturing the heating element instead of the anode rod, and me for 2nd guessing myself when I knew that it wasn't possible. If you have both an anode rod and a drain plug, then you can leave the anode rod in and use this where the drain plug is, otherwise this replaces your anode rod. The guy and I laughed when we finally got it sorted out and he was very nice.If you are tired of buying propane or running out of hot water, buy this. You will not be disappointed.

Worked great while it lasted but the heating element went bad for some reason! Amazon was great and had me return it for full refund. Ordered another one today just waiting for it to arrive! Best thing of all is the made in America and a lifetime warranty!

Wires on the end of heating element are on a 90 degree angle which is much better then the camco heater. And less wiring as well only issue is it has to be turned to full hot on the the thermostat to get go hot water . Was a easy install as well
