We needed 3 new window fans for home cooling at night during warm and hot months. We have used Vornado floor fans for years, and absolutely love them. Did not hesitate to turn to Vornado again for our window fan purchases.Another hit out of the park for Vornado! Love these window fans. - Sleek appearance taking minimal space. Easy to fit into 26 in - 40 in windows. - Efficient performance, incredible airflow, and very quiet. Very quiet ambient noise even at the highest speed 4. - The unit is easy to handle/lift up and down from window with the handle/carrying indentations on the sides. - As seen in photo, comes with additional hard foam rigid pieces if you wish to make the fan a more permanent window installation. Also comes with a remote control unit. - Unit has both air intake and air exhaust modes. - Can set unit to automatically turn off/on to maintain a set temperature. - Handy instruction manual. The unit overall is very easy to operate.Use note: We do not keep the fan units permanently in our windows. Rather, we place them in the windows at night for night time cooling, and remove them in the morning and close the windows. As such, we are not using the extra rigid foam pieces for a more permanent installation. The fans are very easy to take in and out of the window if you want to use them in a similar fashion.I highly recommend this product.

So, we found a suspicious leak in one of our walls. Come to find out our bathroom vent fan is vented into our attic and not to the outside. In winter time, it's too cold for the moist air to vent through the attic fan, and thus condensates and leaks down one of our walls. Homeownership is fun!We do plan to renovate the problematic bathroom in the next few years and properly vent the fan through the roof. In the meantime I ordered this fan to get us by until then. Thankfully, we have a window in this bathroom but merely opening it wasn't cutting it. And who wants to open the window wide for a stretch of time in the winter?This fan saved us and gets the bathroom dry fairly well. It's quiet, the remote is super handy and the spacers help it fit nicely in the window with the screen in place.When the fan is operating at full speed, it gets the bathroom clear quick. There are a few cons though. The spacers and fan do not make it airtight whatsoever. Lots of gaps and air coming in. The fan itself also lets cold air in through the blades. It is not something we can keep in the window all the time. We pop it in at out as needed. Thankfully, it's durable and easy to place in the window and take out when not in use.This little, powerful fan really saved us and the integrity of our home. Now to save for that bathroom reno!

The mechanics of the fan itself seem well made and effective. It moves a good volume of air while maintaining a low visual profile. And it's weather resistant. Those are the main factors in its favor.Unfortunately other factors drag it down, particularly when considering its relatively high price.1) The touch pad is annoyingly insensitive. I have to use a straight finger and poke the buttons hard for the fan to accept my commands. Thank goodness for the remote.2) Why on earth did Vornado design the foam blocks with indents in them that let air through? This is inefficient and, frankly, incomprehensible.3) Unless your window sash is entirely true, it is unlikely to keep the foam blocks in their place. Since they weigh nothing, when they are loose the slightest touch, or even just wind, can knock them out of your window. I had to tape mine in.4) As with all window fans, this fan is open on both sides and cannot be sealed. I can't blame Vornado for that. But I can blame them for the fact that, when in blowing out mode, the center of the fan blows air IN. The inner one-eighth of the fan works directly against the rest of the fan. Again inefficient and inexplicable.All this is tolerable and I'm keeping mine, but I think this product needed more user testing before hitting the market. I'm not sure why the Wirecutter gives this fan such glowing praise and call it the best. Perhaps because other options are not great, either. I have several Bionaire window fans (also recommended by the Wirecutter) and they are flawed in their own ways. Perhaps the perfect fan is just around the corner.

I mis-read the width, this unit is wider than my window by two inches, as I measured the wrong area.Anyhow, using the the included foam blocks to fill under the unit it all fit perfectly to fill the gaps. The unit simply sits on the window ledge, flush to the surface of the window opening. A few small bungee cords attached to scews (picture frame anchors) it easily holds the unit in place with no movement. With this placement, I can even pull the whole unit sightly forward and close the window behind it with the bungee cords. It Works fine.. its quiet, but not silent. I've had quieter fans. Air flow is good, but Static pressure seems to be low, anything blocking airflow like a closed door greatly drops its ability to move air. Crossflow fans like this are effecient, but lack a strong ability to push air through restrictions or into closed rooms.

I love this unit! Very light white noise, super efficient at bringing in cool night or morning air or exhausting the heat of the day from a room that has poor air circulation. I run it 24/7. I will likely get another one. Sure beats the cost of running an air conditioner. On cool air intake, you get a wide strong flow of fresh air even on low setting. I haven’t used the remote but the digital panel is simple to use.

Ma thermopompe murale est placé sur le mur à l’étage. L’air circule difficilement dans la cage d’escalier pour aller à l’étage inférieur.Je l’utile pour faire descendre l’air chaud produit par la termopompe du 1er étage vers le RdC. L’été ça servira pour la climatisation. Ça fonctionne parfaitement.
