  • MILITARY-GRADE A420 ALUMINUM – Our anode rod is made of high-grade aluminum-zinc alloy meeting U.S. Mil-A-18001K/W standard specification for superior resistance and protection against corrosion.
  • PREVENTS UNPLEASANT SMELL IN HOT WATER - Eliminate the sulfur, rotten egg smell in your hot water caused by hydrogen sulfide and the reaction between the water and the magnesium anode rod, thanks to our high-quality aluminum-zinc anode rod.
  • THICK 3/4" DIAMETER – Our anode rod for hot water heater has a 3/4" thick diameter, providing more material to sacrifice than the 5/8" diameter used by some competitors' products. A solid anode also provides even greater surface area for protection than a flexible anode rod.
  • STANDARD 1-1/16" SOCKET FOUND IN EACH BASIC SOCKET KITS - A 1-1/16" socket and teflon sealing tape are required to remove the old anode from your water heater and install the new one. In the rare case that a 12-point socket starts to strip the anode, we suggest using a 6-point socket to prevent damage to the head and for easier removal and installation.
  • LIFETIME WARRANTY – Benefit from a lifetime warranty on our water heater anode rod, ensuring it protects your water heater from corrosion throughout the anode's entire lifespan.
  • PROUDLY AMERICAN SINCE 1996 – Trusted and reliable, our company has been providing top-quality water heater products to American households since 1996.
  • STANDARD INSTALLATION IN DESIGNATED ANODE SLOT - Most water heaters come with a designated anode slot. Our anode is compatible with every type of water heater and popular brands such as American, A.O. Smith, Bosch, Giant, GWS, GE, John Wood, Kenmore, Reliance, Rheem, Richmond, Rinnai, RUUD, State, Whirlpool, U.S. Craftmaster, and more.
  • REQUIRED 4 FEET CLEARANCE – If you don’t have at least 4 feet above your water heater, we suggest you purchase a Water Connection’s flexible anode rod for easier installation.
  • DOES NOT FIT MOST BRADFORD WHITE AND HOT WATER OUTLET – For any water heater that does not have a designated anode slot on top of the unit (such as most Bradford White tanks), we suggest buying Water Connection’s nipple anode rod to be installed in the hot water outlet.
  • EXTEND YOUR WATER HEATER'S LIFE – The anode rod plays a crucial role in protecting your water heater from corrosion. By replacing it when it is 50% depleted, you can prevent hard water damage, extend your water heater's lifespan, and save time and money on repairs.

DOES YOUR HOT WATER STINK LIKE ROTTEN EGGS?

If your water smells like sulfur or rotten eggs, it might be due to sulfur b. interacting with the standard magnesium anode rod in your water heater tank. This reaction produces hydrogen sulfide gas, which not only generates an unpleasant and embarrassing odor but can also corrode your home's plumbing pipes and shorten the lifespan of your water heater.

WE HAVE THE SOLUTION TO YOUR SMELLY WATER PROBLEM

By replacing your heater’s old magnesium anode with one made of an aluminum-zinc (Al-Zn alloy) anode rod for hot water heater, you will put an end to the reaction, and the smell.

This hex head anode anode is a 44” long continuous rod, making it a direct replacement for the “solid” anode your tank shipped with.

NOTE 1: A flexible anode version is also available if your ceiling doesn't have enough clearance for a solid rod.

NOTE 2: If a water softener is in use, we recommend using a "powered anode” like the Corro-Protec 40-89 gallon (ASIN B01H459TAK) or the Ceranode (ASIN B01KIMC91W).

I purchased this water heater anode rod to replace an almost new Reliance magnesium anode rod I had installed just a week before. Right after I installed the magnesium rod, the hot water developed a strange, almost metallic smell that quickly spread throughout the house. The smell began within just a few hours after I installed the rod and within 24 hours it’s intensity had increased to the point that forced us to turn the water heater off.I searched for hot water smell issues online and almost all websites I researched suggested an Aluminum/Zinc alloy anode rod. I searched a few sites and Amazon had the best price of all and two-day shipping, so I ordered it right away. I had to wait almost three days to get it, so in the meantime, I bought a gallon of peroxide at a local store and added about five pints of the stuff directly into the water heater. The peroxide didn’t completely get rid of the issue but made it much more manageable and tolerable.I received the rod around 2:00 PM this afternoon and installed it almost immediately. I used plumber tape on the rod’s threads, about five turns, although some people think it’s the wrong thing to do. My thought is that the threads will cut through the plumber tape anyway and will not have an impact in preventing metal to metal contact between both the heater and the anode rod, which is necessary to ensure proper reaction. Anyway, removing and replacing the rod is a very simple task and takes just a few minutes.I took a shower around 9:00 pm or seven hours after installing the new Aluminum/Zinc alloy anode rod and there was an obvious change to the quality of the water…there was hardly any smell. We also used the hot water on and off before I took a shower and have a hot water recirculating system installed, so I’m sure most of the water left in the tank from the previous magnesium rod is pretty much depleted. Nevertheless, everything appears to be working just right and I just hope it stays that way. So far, this Aluminum/Zinc alloy anode rod is doing what is supposed to do well and for that reason, IMO, it deserves a five-star rating and I recommend it.8/13/2018: It has been two days since I installed this rod and I'm happy to report that all smell from the hot water is completely gone. There are no leaks either, so that's also a good sign. I would like to add that when I received it, the rod was about three inches too long for my water heater. I simply cutted off those extra three inches and it fit just fine.

This rod met all my expectations except it did not remove the odor from my hot water, through no fault of the rod, just wasn't compatible with my water chemistry so I replaced it with an electric unit and it works great.

Worked GREAT to get rid of the bad bad rotten egg smell I have had for years. Never knew that the Alum & Zinc combination would fix the problem, but it did. 100% would recommend. Came shipped in a tube with a wooden staked taped to keep from bending, smart idea. I cut it down to fit my 25-gal tank, easy job.

The rod is as advertised with the exception that it did not help with removing sulphur smell. Water still smelled after a couple of weeks of usage until I shocked the tank with bleach. Hopefully it will maintain the odorless condition now.

Superior to the original OEM anode. Much longer, dual composition (aluminum and zinc) vs. just aluminum and significantly longer, so it should perform better and last longer. My original was almost completely destroyed by sacrificial electrolysis in jus 2.5 years.

I would not recommend this product for rotten egg o odor fix. I ordered this based on reviews. However, I wonder with the follow up is months after using it. Exactly 3 months after installing the new rod the rotten egg odor has returned. This rod does not last any longer than the original rod that came with the hot water heater our hot water heater is only six months old, this is only a three month or less temporary fix. Unfortunately, it’s past the period of time to return the item. I wonder if his company truly backs up the claim this fixes the rotten egg odor

Had smelly bath water for last few years. Since kids moved out, which meant less usage and water sitting in hot water tank longer. This anode worked perfectly and has fixed my problem.

We had a strong rotten egg smell fom our hot water. We first replaced with a plain aluminum anode rod. Did nothing. So we installed this one. It has been about a month, but the smell is almost gone. Don’t expect overnight results. Very happy.
