I have had 4 pumps fail in 5 years. I own a very aggressive property but the bottom line is that none of my previous pumps had this build quality. It weighs 2-3 times what the pump it replaced. The float on this is designed very simple but brilliantly at the same time. My previous pump failed due to burning out from a stuck float. I cannot see that happening with this design. I have an 11inch pit so I am restricted but this works beautifully. It took me under 5 minutes to install. I also purchased the Wayne check valve / piece that screws into the base. Great choice. One of the best for its price from all the research that I have done. I used a Rigid pump to manually pump out water until this arrived. But with heavy rain today - I had to get this installed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I recently installed the WAYNE CDU790 1/3 HP Submersible Sump Pump in my basement, and I couldn't be more impressed! This pump is incredibly reliable and does an amazing job keeping my basement dry. The heavy-duty construction with cast iron and stainless steel feels solid and durable, which gives me peace of mind knowing it's built to last. One of the standout features for me is how quiet it operates—no loud buzzing or noise that you often get with sump pumps. It’s perfect for keeping things peaceful in the basement, even when it’s running.Installation was a breeze! The pump comes with an integrated vertical float switch, which made the setup straightforward, even for a DIYer like me. I had it up and running in no time.

Bought this to replace my old pedestal pump. Much quieter than old ond. Working fine after a month or so.

Overall recommended based on first day installation and operation. The pump is relatively quiet and I like that the intake is on the side rather than the bottom. My previous pump lasted about 13 years without any problems and with zero maintenance. I hope I will get the same type of service out of this one.The manual says I have to change the switch every two years which I won't do. Why not make the switch last for the life of the pump and charge me $15 more or $50 more? Change the switch? No. I'll change the entire pump when it stops working, and if that happens earlier than 10 years, I'll downgrade to 2 or 3 stars. The old 1-1/2 inch PVC adapter did not go on easily and would get crooked after a full turn. The trick I learned was to push down with some force on the pipe/adapter while turning which helped get in about 3 full rotations by hand. I had bought a few different adapters thinking the old adapter on the old sump pump didn't fit. All the new adapters had trouble going on at first but eventually would go on a few rotations by hand when I pressing down while turning. The threads on the pump are a little tight from the factory is all.

We have two sump pumps in our basement to keep it nice and dry. Every 4 years or so, even less, we have to replace one. I have been buying the same brand every time and thought there has to be something better.I have read how good the Wayne sump pumps are and decided to try one out. I got the model WAYNE CDU790 and it is absolutely great. Right away out of the box you can feel is it quality. The old ones I bought were thermoplastic and only one lasted the expected 5 years. Some lasted a little over 4 years, most did not. The cast iron is heavy duty with stainless steel hardware holding it all together. The impeller is also stainless steel protected by a cast iron shroud. It has a long cable for reaching the outlet. The installation was very easy, and the operation is so quiet that I was worried that it wasn't working. I had to remove the cover to see if it was working and it is. My old pumps were so loud you could hear them upstairs every time they ran. The Wayne pumps water MUCH faster than the old pumps I bought. The sump empties in a matter of only a few seconds. This is a solid sump pump with a 3 year warranty. I registered it online immediately and am confident it will outlast my old pumps by far. The expected life if 6 years. For all of that, I give it 5 stars. Also for a super value and price as well as terrific quality.

Back for a second one. First after 4 years developed leak and somehow filled motor with water. Maybe after drying out it could be repaired and put back in use but this is probably about the life span for one of these things and I do maybe challenge it a bit. Though I hoped for a little longer it has done well.

Nice and quiet ! Unit is as described. Would be nice if you could control the limit switch so the pump could turn on sooner in order to keep the water level lower. I used a piece of 2"long x 1/2" dia. rubber hose on the float and solved my issue. Pump runs more often for shorter periods. After a couple heavy rains the pump worked excellent .

Received the product quickly. Well packed. The pump is heavy and appears to be of the high quality expected from Wayne. Easy to install. The pump has a top handle so that makes it easy to raise and lower during installation. Another thing I like is there is a guard to protect the float from touching the side of the sump wall. The pump starts with about 9" of water in the well and shuts off with about 5" remaining (about a 4" cycle). My sump is 24" X 18" and it completes the cycle in about 6 seconds, That's about 1 US gal/sec.. The inlet holes are up from the bottom. I like this because it prevents air locking and also prevents any debris from getting into the impeller. I have it piped with 1-1/2" ABS all the way to the ditch (30') and going through a Zoeller check valve. I have about a 5' head. Last but not least the pump is very quiet! Hope this helps someone.

Same plumbing as my previous pump so installed in 5 minutes, including unpackaging. Worked the instant I plugged it in and well water was instantly gone. Very impressed. Far better quality than that available at the big box stores and about the same price. Delivery to your door the next day is far more convenient, especially when you get a superior product.
